Tiny Thief. Is excellent. 5 stars. Point n click, I guess? Lovingly animated. Not free to play. Just get it.

Re: The iOS gaming thread
Bingo. How good is the "we'll tell you how to finish the level IF you pay us money" - the way it sits there in the corner taunting you, but not making the game any worse for it. And then, if you're playing at the right time, it'll hand it all over for free? What a beautiful hussy. I got to the end but didn't feel I really warranted posting in the Last Game You Finished thread - I used the book too many times on some of the more bastardy levels. Either way, one of my favourite iOS games. Up there with Eliss.

Threes is scarily addictive, but I'm not sure if it's actually any good?

Re: The iOS gaming thread
Anyone read those 'Choose Your Own Adventure' books, or the more mature/D&D style 'Fighting Fantasy' books? There is a good RPG style novel on Google Store called Mobile Armoured Marine. It's all text, no images and is quite good, albeit a bit short but there is the promise of more with your characters stats carrying over.

Re: The iOS gaming thread
I think it's great. The control scheme is brilliantly simple, and there appears to be a number of different strategies you can use. I'm unsure as to whether I like the cute/derpy comments from the cards; they seem to be endearing when I'm doing well, but shit me when I'm taking my time to think a few moves ahead. The music's pretty awesome though, it's infectious but somehow not repetitive, somewhat like Plants vs Zombies. I've figured out how the scoring works (unsurprisingly the high score table is rife with cheating cunts), now I'm trying to wrap my head around the way cards are dealt.selfish wrote:Threes is scarily addictive, but I'm not sure if it's actually any good?
For the Xbone fans out there, turning on Conserve Battery halves the framerate from 60fps to 30fps so you'll be right at home.

Re: The iOS gaming thread
I don't have any great strategies. Um, put the blue on the same side as the pink? Explain good things for me.

Re: The iOS gaming thread
And how do people hack the high scores table?

You can't do it unless you're 1337
Re: The iOS gaming thread
What's everyone's best score in Threes? Mine's 8919.

I'm guessing Threes is only on iOS?

Re: The iOS gaming thread
I got 9,783 today. The trick seems to be to make sure your blues and reds don't get separated.
Perfect game to play while you're doing something else like watching a not too visually interesting movie. All the chatty scenes in inception for example.

Re: The iOS gaming thread
3141 my best so far.
Re: The iOS gaming thread
Hahaha, almost everyone in this thread is ahead of me (3390) including you selfish, so perhaps I shouldn't be dishing out tips. I've only played it half a dozen times so far, but there seems to be a few different and equally viable strategies- you can try and keep your highest card in a corner then sort of funnel the rest toward it, take the opposite approach and try and keep your highest in one of the four centre positions (harder to maintain but gives you more flexibility), or try building a chain. The latter being setting up so you can go 1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 6 -> 12 -> 24 etc in succession. It allows you to react quickly when the range of white cards that can appear starts ramping up. But in general, as mech said, the blues and reds are almost always what will cause your game to end, plus they're worth nothing so you want to get rid of them ASAP.
At this stage I'm just trying to unlock the higher scoring cards. Most of my games seem to end in a frustrating chequered pattern. It looks like I'm about to get a shitload of points, then suddenly I'm out of moves.

Re: The iOS gaming thread
Somehow I managed to get 6927 tonight, not trying particularly hard. I think it must just be how much pure autism you can channel into it?
