Controls on MI are disappointing to say the least.

From my GAF post:

Ugh... the controls in this are woeful. Rather than have the cursor go where you touch on the screen (which would make, you know, SENSE) you have to drag it around like you're using a touchpad on a laptop. A really shifty touchpad.

Having it so Guybrush went wherever you touched on the screen and choosing a look at/use option would've been so much more intuitive and, um, obvious than the way it's been implemented here. Very fucking disappointed.

...and...

Go ahead, spend the $10 or so and see what you think.. but I'm supremely disappointed that they didn't take advantage of arguably the best touchscreen interface available on ANY device. If any game was to adapt perfectly to it, it was this. And they fucked it.

I can only hope they patch it, but until then I'm going to have more fun with the Hitchhiker's Guide text adventure on the iPhone. At least it has better controls.

Edit: To "nitpick" further, when playing the old version, they scale the graphics horribly, so you get odd-looking fonts too.

Probably a good move Westy. To be fair ... Puzzle Quest was absolute balls until they patched the fuck out of it. The current version is fantastic.

Thing is it's much easier to punt on games on the app store due to the lower cost ... a disappointing game for $10 is much easier to cop on the chin than one that cost $100.

Yep, agreed. I just thought it was a given that a point-and-click game ported to a touchscreen-based device would let you click wherever on the screen rather than having to move the cursor around.

Oh, and check out the scaling on the "classic" version:

The letter "a" is three different shapes FFS!

Space Invaders Infinity Gene is out, and fuuuuuuck me it's awesome. Fantastic music, gameplay, graphics... it's about as close as a Rez-styled shooter we'll ever get. And I don't really mind that at all, it's that good.

ive been playing it too, also at work occasionally

good fun, and one of the goons at Something Awful did the art apparently
