Nintendo can claim decided dominance this week, at least in terms of software sales.
The latest Media Create numbers from August 21st to 27th charting Japanese retail sales show a DS game in every slot of the top ten: Square-Enix's re-invigorated RPG Final Fantasy 3, which broke 500,000 copies in its first week of sales leads the chart; followed by New Super Mario Bros.; Harvest Moon spin-off title Rune Factory; the second volume of Nintendo's Brain Training series; interactive recipe book Cooking Navi; NanaOn-Sha's second licensed Tamagotchi title, Tamagotchi no Puchi Puchi Omisecchi Gohi-Kini; Mario Basketball 3on3, Animal Crossing Wild World; the original Brain Training; and finally its local English training game, Eigo ga Nigate na Otona no DS Training.
With figures like these, referring to the DS as simply a supporting 'third-pillar' for Nintendo is becoming an ever more remote and distant memory.
Oh, and might as well chuck in the hardware sales also.
