My copy arrived yesterday. Just played the introduction but awesome so far! Moody graphics and great voice work. Feels like MGS without the cutscenes. It's been a long time but this looks to be the best Batman game out there.

Got a look at the CE today. The Batarang is the most disappointing piece of shit I've seen for a long time. It looks disgracefully cheap and nasty. Glad I didn't order it. You really have to see it to understand how poorly it's made.

Got the game on 360 last week via Play Asia. Love it. Best game i've played so far this year. Brilliant graphics/music/voice acting and story. Controls are fantastic. Games don't get must better than Batman. So far my game of 2009 (until Uncharted 2 comes along)!

Word, definitely a GOTY contender, at least in the platforming section.

Edit - Awesome game, should really be called the Batman Simulator. Arkham is fully realised and believable. The facial animations are definitely off but overall the graphics are impressive. I'm shocked someone managed to make a fantastic 3rd person Batman game!

Loved it to pieces, on my second play through now. Only negative would be the shitty shitty boss fights. Having the animated series cast do the voices is just fantastic and the whole product is incredibly polished from start to finish. Definitely front runner for GOTY for me.

What's with Batman being referred to as "the Batman" sometimes and not others? One of the character bios uses both in the same sentence. Odd.

His official name is "The Batman", but it's not like people are going to say "Hey The Batman, how are you today?" It's fine to use either title, I don't think he minds.

It makes sense for the good guys to call him Batman for the reasons you state, and I like when you overhear the grunts calling him "the Batman" as it gives the impression they consider him a mysterious force rather than some dude... but both in the same breath is just weird. I don't dispute that Batman himself would not mind either way.

Like Cletus said, the Collector's Edition is shitacular. The batarang is a horrible plastic scratched piece of crap, the book with the 'embossed leather jacket' is nothing of the sort - it's just a shitty notebook with a paper cover. The game itself comes in a crappy cardboard case with no room for the manual, and it's pretty much impossible not to peel some of the cover off when you take the stupid Xbox seal off.

Disappointing is not a strong enough word.

The Batarang looks to have been dipped in black paint and then sandpapered while it's still wet.
