This has to be one of the true surprise games of this year. Absolutely loving it! Struggling to think of any other superhero games that are in the same league as this, and only Riddick comes to mind for licensed games that are this sort of qualerty.
Really, this sort of care and effort should inspire other comic-related games to come out with similar quality.

Finished this tonight. Oh man, the last bit absolutely nailed my hand trying to mash x and triangle the whole time... I tried about 10 times to beat all those dudes in the first room before going in, before giving up and just going through. Was pretty over the fighting mechanic after all that, but loved the rest of the game. Really well done. Very happy it came free with my PS3 Slim, because I don't think I would have given it a chance otherwise.

Really?? I killed them all with one combo. Mind you, it helped that I laid explosive batman juice (heh heh) at their feet first to weaken them up.mech wrote: Oh man, the last bit absolutely nailed my hand trying to mash x and triangle the whole time... LTTP...
Picked up the superior PC version during the Steam XMas sale, only just now have a computer good enough to run it.
Definitely would have been my GOTY if I had gotten around to playing it last year.
Some of the boss fights weren't the greatest but for a comic book game the art, voice & gameplay are fantastic.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum - dam ...this looks mint
So rather than clutter up the arkham city threads, how far have people gotten in the challenge modes? Ive done all of the combat and stealth ones on regular mode, and am trying to do the extreme versions of each now. Done a couple of them but they are fucking hard.
Two hardest in particular are the combat ones with electric floors AND a time limit per round and the combat one with the two titan powered goons (rumble in the jungle extreme). Stealth ones are doable but with boobytrapped gargoyles and extreme trophy challenges (eg take out 3 enemies at once with 3 separate wall explosions?! WTF?!) some are verging on impossible.
Do you have to beat all 3 challenges in the one go in order to get them, or can you do each trophy individually?

Oooh, worked out silent knight and got a top-200 rank.
This game is at turns equally infuriating and awesome as a successfully executed splinter cell/metal gear/tenchu room clearance.

Had a minor breakthrough on this tonight. Figured out how to:
* chain combos longer (>20) with placement of throws in combos
* beat one combat challenge unscathed
* beat a titan with fists only
* finally got two bat stars on a combat challenge (first one!)
* BEAT the final combat challenge rumble in the jungle extreme
Only have that fucking shock and awe extreme one to do, but that will be impossible. As will be getting gold on the combat challenges.

Tad late but absolutely loving it. Might need to get that 360 for windows controller sooner rather than later though. KBAM doing the job but the game wants a pad. I started it and thought ok, tight environments, 5 year old game, all good. Then the island opened right up and I'm grappling and gliding everywhere. Very cool. And I hear City is all this and way more.

I can't remember if this was free on PS+ or just Arkham City.
Wonder how Pat got along with those final challenges.

Man I loved this game. 100%'ed the story mode including all the Riddler trophies, couldn't be bothered with all the Challenges though. Played through the Arkham City story mode, didn't bother with all the Riddler trophies, just felt overwhelmed.
Haven't touched Origins and my Arkham Knight PC version birthday present preorder was recalled
But Arkham Asylum = one of my favourite games ever. I probably prefer it to City in a lot of ways. It felt more manageable!

Yeah I'm told City is enormous in comparison to Asylum. Pumped to play it after this. Playtime is limited with child but I'm about 30% in with a few gadgets now. Man the devs sure nailed it - look, feel, combat, stealth, movement, gadgets.
