Can't believe it's taken me this long to respond. Particularly seeing as I'm probably the biggest Bizarre Creations fanboy on the forum. They are easily my favorite devs.
Prior to this information, all we knew was BC are working on two racers. A Forza2/Mario kart hybrid, and a 007 licensed GTA style sandbox racer. Neither sound good on paper, but I've maintained my faith.
So here we are. I guess Blur is the Forza2/Mario Kart hybrid.
I must admit, I'm not overly enthused, and I don't like the title...Bleh!
I maintain my faith. The weapon racer is a genre that has never, ever been done right imo. Yep, not even Twisted Metal or Vigilante 8.
I feel like Arnie Cunningham in front of his trashed Christine (1958 Plymouth Fury).

Whoa, you stop right there! Um...LEFT, RIGHT, UP!!!*Twiztid Elf wrote:Yep, not even Twisted Metal or Vigilante 8.
The original Twisted Metal was a fucking awesome game, especially in split-screen with a friend. I think it fell away as a series, but the original one was a blast. I'm skeptical that this will be any good, but if it gets anywhere near the playability of Twisted Metal then I'll want it.
* I may be wrong because I'm old and stupid, but that's supposed to be the freeze ray thing.

Explains why the game looks like shit.

I have a positive outlook. Good on them for pushing out of usual comfort zones and seeking some actual (vs the usual virtual) points of difference. We know they're capable of making fun racing games so gameplay and compelling racing should not be an issue. The look is reminiscent of Bizarre's previous games in a pretty obvious way to my eye + added stylised effects. It's actually up pretty high on my list.
