I can't believe they're not offering 90 degree cables with the size of those cards

Just ordered one of these cablemod cables for my EVGA power supply. Don't like the jank adapter nvidia packed in and the melting issue seems to be isolated to their adapters so far.

A lot TBC but AMD looking to occupy an interesting spot with 7900XT and 7900XTX. Much cheaper than 4090, normal sized footprint, lower frequency, DP2.1, 20GB DDR6 for XT, 24GB for XTX. Looking forward to seeing it benched against a 4090.

Looking forward to Nvidia rethinking their pricing of the 4080/4070

(LOL, no they won't)

Seems like their Ray Tracing still lacks though, which means I'll probably look to the 4070/4080 depending on power/heat.

I've been meaning to (for a while) get back into PC gaming. Prices have been far too high to justify it for me but these new AMD cards might actually pull me back in! Any ideas on local prices and when we can pre order one of these cards so I can FINALLY get back into PC gaming.

Surely they're not going to release a 4070Ti model before the 4070? :run:

4080 would be an amazing card at sub US$1000 but for $1200+ and whatever the local price will be it's ridiculous. You'd be better off shelling out the extra for a 4090 given the value it represents.

Will have to wait for the AMD GPU launch to see what my next card will be now.

$2500. Fuck that. Especially when the 4090 is so much better performing for less than $500 more.

Nvidia have lost the goddamned plot.

4070Ti. $1500 for a mid-range card. Get in the bin.

I paid $1300 for my 3070 at the time. Seeing what they're currently going for hurts a little but it was offset by selling my 1660 Super for $750.

Is the 4090 twice the performance of the 4070TI for twice the price though? Wonder how long this will last?

I'll probably just keep my 1070 and look at getting a Steam Deck instead now. Prices are stupid for marginal performance gains over last gen.

My 2070 was only $700 or so. Sure, it had been out for a few months by then, but I think it launched at under a grand anyway.

The bonkers thing here is that the frames-per-dollar metric is still firmly in the 4090's favour. That thing is a beast, but normally you wouldn't expect the highest model to represent the best value, but here we are...

Where would one find a steam deck from if one was to purchase one?

Kogan has them cheap

https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/vchain-ste ... tm-dck-64/

It's through a third party but they're selling them themselves as well

https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/valve-stea ... 6gb-valve/

64gb by Kogan seems to be sold out.

I decided on going a GPD Win 4 on indiegogo. Supposed to be released in March cross fingers. Haven't done the whole crowd funding thing before.

It looks so cool though.

If anyone is considering buying a cablemod 12VHPR cable, I would advise against it.

Recently I starting having some weird GPU crashes where the screen goes black and the GPU fans go to 100%. The weird thing is the PC was still running and I had no errors in windows, I had to hard reset when this occurs. It was completely random when it happened too, Light loads/gaming loads etc.

Long story short, it's the cablemod cable that over time goes faulty and causes this, going back to the NVidia adapter resolves the issue completely.

There are others with the same issue and sourced the problem to the cable.

Not impressed, this cable wasn't cheap and it ended up being a heap of unreliable junk.

I think it's time we fucked off these molex-style connectors. They're big, clunky, and not fit for purpose anymore IMO. We've been using them for what, thirty years now? We need to rethink the whole connector package. I'm sick of stressing over how much pressure I'm putting on the motherboard as I jam the 24-pin connector in. Sick of the separate EPS power connector. Sick of the connectors sprouting from my graphics card. How hard can it be to design something sturdier and easier to use?

I hate to say it, but Apple got the power delivery idea (maybe not the implementation) right with the last Intel Mac Pro.

The price difference between the 4070Ti and the 4080 is about what I paid for my 2070. That's nuts O_o

Yep gpu pricing is still horribly broken. It's no wonder GPU sales are at their lowest levels in years. But still the stubborn vendors refuse to drop prices, it's fucked.

The 4070 is $1100ish. Nvidia have absolutely lost the plot. A Ti model can be had for just $200 more at the moment, and when looking at paying over a grand for the 4070 this better believe the Ti version is looking like a better proposition

We're getting fucked with pricing here too, US pricing for the 4070 is good. Not sure if 12GB is enough for a new card though

Well, mwave has them for $999, which is better... But still not great when the Ti still isn't that much more.

Maybe an RX7800/7700 will reset the balances, but I doubt it. :(

How about those burning AM5 chips? "95°C is perfectly fine", my arse. That high an operating temperature leaves absolutely no room for error, ffs.
