I will definitely get a 360 once Halo 3 is out (only game at this stage I want for it). Beyond that I could see myself getting a Wii given the option for backwards coompatibility with GC games (living in Japan there are a crapload of cheap, good games to choose from). I'll give the PS3 a miss - aside from MGS4 nothing on it really grabs my attention and it is far too expensive.

Out of curiosity Rorschach, what kind of work are you doing in Japan? At least I imagine it's not a holiday as you've been over there for a while now yeah? Permanent/Temporary thing?Rorschach wrote:I will definitely get a 360 once Halo 3 is out (only game at this stage I want for it). Like the other 90% of English speaking foreigners in Japan I teach English. I've been here for 3 years now with a view to stay 3 more. Permanent temporary you could say. If you are a game nut Japan is the best place on the planet.Ben wrote: Out of curiosity Rorschach, what kind of work are you doing in Japan? Surprising to some of you, X360 is all I'm interested in getting for real. I am just afraid a. the ps3 will become huge b. the wii will interest me too much. I really wont be looking for any serious purchases for at least another year.
Its a hard decision this time becuz of how poor the x360 does in japan, though in the west it just seems so dominant and not like it'll be knocked off this perch anytime soon. I wonder if the PS3 will be a bit of a saturn(big in japan but limited elsewhere).

360 for the fps. Doesn't hurt that oblivion is on it.
Wii for all the inhouse titles like metroid, zelda, mario etc
ps3 mainly for mgs, any JRPGs, and non-pc stuff.
For me if I ignore a single platform completely I feel as if I will be missing out on too much. But usually I don't like to buy consoles at launch unless the platform has an AAA game. I wait for price drops and until the system has a strong line of games with a polished feel to them. What I mean by that, is I'm not interested as much in mindless easy to do ports of existing games on other platforms.

360 only for me... ATM I can't see the Wii being more than a novelty (if I need novelty value, I have Samba on the DC or any game on the DS). I doubt I'll get a PS3 as it's hard to justify the price tag... there's no games I *really* want to play on there, and the ones I do will probably come out on the 360 as well.
I'm perfectly happy owning the PS2 of this gen
