I thought we all knew for some time that the Wii was still using the same base graphics hardware just at faster clocks?

Ofcourse it can't do everything XBox did.

So, Zelda TP. Wii or GC version?

Having just read that the wii version doesnt mimic your sword movements on screen, I'm thinking whats the point? If swinging ur arms around is just going to give you the same result as pressing a button.. i'm really not buying into that.

Widescreen is nice, but I dont have a WS tv.. what else does it offer?

Well that just seems, bizarre...

I don't think I especially need one, I've got a few of those Hori digital pads for the gamecube kicking around, but I think I'll pick one up anyhow.. but yeah plugging into the remote seems unusual.

Title: Bokujou Monogatari

Platform: Wii

Recreate the movements on the Wii controller to actually sow seeds, plough the land, cultivate crops, etc. These are some of the farm tasks you will have to actually do in this very first next-gen Harvest Moon.

I love the slug games, I think it would be cool if they released all the samurai spirits games in a compilation too. I still can't beat the last boss in X without losing men though.

Has anyone got any in depth strategy for avoiding those ufos lasers that is fool-proof such that you can actually beat the whole game in 1 man?

But the UFO enemies respawn an infinite number of times right after killing them. Meaning I waste all my time and ammo shooting at them and not damaging the mothership.

Dodging I can keep up but not consistantly. Since the alien ships move much faster than you do and surrounds you from all angles. The bullets are long so you can barely squeeze through them.

I think it is just a case of kill the mothership faster than the ufos kill all your men. I can pipebomb it to death before I lose all my men but was wondering if there were some more intelligent and less desperate way to do it without dying at all.

That is good news, but even better news is that the Anthology is also coming to PS2. Wii version = redundant.

I might end up just getting the psp version actually. It's the kind of thing I can see is perfect as portable gaming material. No need for good fighter controls either. Just simple sidescrolling run n gun shooter.

Regardless of what people think of the pad I think SNK should do compilation of all thier arcade games to psp:

All KOF including Mark of the wolves
All Samurai Spirits compliation

And if nintendo want to get all those old-school jaded gamers who remember the classics, try to get some 2d fighter compilations on the system too. It would just seem like an easy thing to do to pad out the game list.

Opera releases details on its browser for Nintendo’s Wii console
Oslo, Norway - September 26, 2006

Opera Software today announced details on its browser for Nintendo’s soon-to-be released game console, Wii. Opera’s full Web browser is available for download from the "Wii Shop Channel". Nintendo has stated that they will offer Opera free of charge as a temporary promotion for all Wii users until June 2007.

From July 2007, users can purchase the Opera browser using Wii points. Wii points are credits users can buy that allow them to add new games or the Opera browser to their Wii consoles. The number of Wii points required to purchase Opera has not yet been announced.

With support for Flash and AJAX-based content such as Google maps, Wii users will benefit from a feature-rich Internet experience that is uniquely customized for the Wii. Opera for Wii boasts the same complete standards support as the Opera 9 Desktop browser, and includes the added functionality of "Zoom" and "Bookmarks". The Wii remote control will also be an integral part of browsing, allowing users to intuitively control the Web with their Wii remotes.

To be fair though, as long as they scale down picture size/text size so they don't appear massive it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Something tells me they aren't trying to render PCs obsolete. Of course nobody will use their Wii/PS3 to browse the 'net if their PC provides a better experience. But if I'm in my lounge room watching TV or playing a game, and I want to check my mail, and my options are either change channel or get up, walk out of room, go to other room, go on computer, look at email, get up again, leave room, walk back to original room.... sorry, I think my train of thought just got derailed... where was I...

Oh, right. It's not as good as a PC, but there are situations where it'd be useful, and it's free.

I web browsed (and IRCed) at 480p for quite a while on my Dreamcast.

If they do want us to take 480p web browsing seriously I have to say Opera are the people who I would want on the job. Hell, Opera can let me browse regular websites on a mobile phone without too much trouble by relaying out the pages intelligently. 480p would be like a mansion of space to play with in comparison.

And PS3 web browsing @ 1080p > PC browsing @ 1024x768 or 1280x1024. PS3 also has "tabbed" browsing which is a huge plus.

Has anyone seen pics of the Wii's power supply? Or anything that would give way as to what sort of wattage the Wii is going to draw?

I'm just wondering what kind of stepdown converter I'm going to need for it until I can buy an Aussie PSU (well assuming that it's external, but I'm hazarding a guess @ it's size, and how the GameCube was that it will be).

I've got one for my import GameCube, but I can't remember what wattage that was or if it'd cover what the Wii would draw... but I can't imagine it would pull heaps of power, or need anything like what the 360 needed.

The Wii's already announced that it's got an external power supply, which is good news for us :)

As for current etc., I don't think they've said anything yet. But I can't see it needing to pull much more than the GC or PS2 did.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, I don't think I'll rush and get one yet obviously, but liksang seem to have a reasonably cheap 150W stepdown which I reckon would probably cover it. (if the current stepdown I already have won't)

External PSU FTW though! Cheers for letting me know that! I just hope Nintendo don't make it too exxy to buy a replacement one.
