Unlike the PS3, it's optional and the console is available now.Talez wrote:US$170 addon while playing catchup isn't good news. It's a Mega CD in the making.Jizzy McLobber wrote:uh oh, more good xbox 360 related news?

Also now with the component 1080p support, sony will now have to play catchup and allow 1080p over component with the tard ps3.

It might not do it atm, but it's capable of it.
edit
And Sony is not even launching for another 6+ months.

When is that dash update coming by the way?lestat wrote:Yep with the new dash update they will have beaten sony at delivering a 1080p capable console to market. Oh the Irony.
Oh fucking jesus don't you even search google anymore? Also now with the component 1080p support, sony will now have to play catchup and allow 1080p over component with the tard ps3.
You won't need HDMI for 1080p games if you can find a television set that fully supports 1080p over component cable, but good luck finding any such TV. They don't appear to exist.

So you're selling us on potential now?mxlegend99 wrote:Re-read what i wrote. They already have a 1080p capable machine on the market.Talez wrote:mxlegend99 wrote:Sony is playing catchup. Well my dell 2405(1200p monitor) can accept 1080-1200p over vga. So i'm really curious to see if the internal scaler is better than one inside the dell. I'm guessing the internal scaler should be better than the dell. Unfortunately the dell doesn't do HDCP via it's dvi port so vga is more useful to me than 1080p over hdmi, if they enable encryption over the hdmi link.
My plasma has dvi(hdcp) but it's only 1024x768 in native res so 1080p is useless for that panel. It only accepts up to 1080i over the dvi link too.

No. We bought the console without expecting that from it. This is an added bonus. The capabilities are increasing upon what was promised.Talez wrote:So you're selling us on potential now?mxlegend99 wrote:Re-read what i wrote. Sony on the other hand.....

Oh yeah. My TV is only 720p, so i really gain nothing from the PS3 or 360 doing 1080p. My only hope is that i can upscale DVD's on my 360 via component with this update. Else it means shit for me. This is purely for bragging rights/fanboy arguements

Upscaling 720p? Shit. Something that's pretty much useless for free? Unless you consider the potential for 1080p games.mxlegend99 wrote:No. We bought the console without expecting that from it. This is an added bonus. The capabilities are increasing upon what was promised.
Oops? Did I say potential again?
Have games that implement proper 1080p? Not like it matters because we'll have lestat coming along soon harping about how 1080p is too intense and we're all going to be playing flat, shaderless worlds.Sony on the other hand.....

Thankfully the 2407 does HDCP over DVI. Maybe time to trade the 2405 in? Probably only 300 bucks or so if you get a decent price for the old monitor.lestat wrote:Well my dell 2405(1200p monitor) can accept 1080-1200p over vga. I'll see, I'd be keen for an upgrade if there was a significant improvement in response times on the newer model. Also I'd like to wait and see if hdmi 1080p does actually work on the 2407 first before considering an upgrade. It would be good if they release a model with a hdmi port, cause currently i use the dvi for pc input, so i'd have to get a dvi switch.
