Good write up. I'm currently playing it with a mate when we can get online at the same time and enjoying it so far. Your score is close to what I'd give too based on what I've played and for the price it's a no brainer especially as you can invite a friend online to experience it with you and they don't even have to own the game.

If anyone does want to play co-op with me on PS4 once I've finished then let me know!

Nice Deef. My friend and I have been looking for something to play, but if it's not on Steam or GoG we don't even know it exists. I'll dust off Origin® and try it out

Was recently free (via Humble Bundle I think) so I grabbed Spec Ops: The Line. Great game. The actual shooting was a bit average but the story was awesome.

6.5/10 gameplay, 9.5/10 story.
Currently playing: Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition (PC), Far Cry 4 (PC), FIFA 23 (Series X)

Monster Hunter World on Xbone.

Wow. I'd always been curious about the franchise but never had the platform to play it. This game was awesome. Took me 150 hours to see the end credits. I could have gone faster.. but the game made me want to enjoy everything it had to offer. I haven't even tried all of the weapons types yet. I haven't really completed any of the challenges (except to get the Ryu costume that is).

Yes - there is a grind.. but it feels rewarding and when you pull of a successful move.. or you drop a giant boulder on a monster.. it's satisfying. The hunts do tend to follow a pattern BUT you are completely okay with this because that's what animals do. They have routine, haunts, behaviours.. and it's fucking AWESOME when you get some of the big monsters all to converge at once into this huge battle royale. Watching a Bazelgeuse, Anjanah and a Rathalos all decide to get involved in a turf war at the same time is a joy to watch.. and also dodge.

With the fact that they are STILL adding content.. this is kinda the game that Bioware should have tried to make with Mass Effect Andromeda.. episodic DLC releases.. SUPPORT.. and a level of polish and care that you expect from a AAA title. I am so pleased this game has sold well and reviewed well because it deserves it..

Yes.. I have seen the credits roll after taking down the last dragon.. but I want to continue playing.. because one.. I still have more to find, collect and enjoy.. and even after the game ends.. it follows on and from what I've been told.. the story kicks back in again when you reach a certain hunter rank.. so it really is the game that keeps on giving.

I give it 9 meowscular slave pussies out of 10.

Damn that's good value, I have three quests to go and I thought I was taking it slow at 40+ hours! Have you been playing solo or with friends? Huge range of difficulty in my experience, some encounters are tough solo if you're stubborn and stick to your preferred loadout, whereas I feel like I'm cheating when some of my high-level mates jump in and start deleting monsters. ...or a cheeky SOS lands you some hectic HL9001 Japanese player.

Definitely took some time to sink its claws in but it's a great game.

It was played mostly single player but I definitely did a maybe 35-40% of that time in some sort of co-op.. be it jumping into other quests or using SOS flares.. or with some clients who are playing.. though sadly they are well behind my progress... which made me play with strangers more.

Having peeps dropping in made the game more fun and and some monsters more manageable.. even though the difficulty would be ramped when more than one hunter was on the quest which is a great addition and thus it never truly felt like cheating when getting or offering help.. and since you do end up hunting all the monsters various times - you will do so at various stages of strengths.

I'm keen to see what further eventuations happen when I progress my Hunter Rank.. not to mention what Capcom plans to do in terms of additional DLC.. because the game has a scary amount of potential for further progressions in the story and also the number of additional monsters and areas they can introduce.

Hitman Absolution.

I haven't played Blood Money so there's none of the disappointment many BM fans felt upon playing Absolution. It may not be a Hitman game but Absolution is still a very good stealth-action game. While I prefer the look and feel of HITMAN 2016 I still very much enjoyed the 30 hours I put into this.

8/10.

Edit:

Better do some pros and cons to justify the score.

Pros:
Enjoyable grindhouse-style story, characters and soundtrack. Triple A production with top voice talent (RIP Powers Boothe).
Excellent gameplay control in stealth and gun-play. I had fun playing this as a third person shooter in some instances.
Beautiful game. Hitman games do crowds really well.
Game scores! Refreshing to see a level score and to see Ranch players in the leaderboards (even though you all appear to have given up on the game pretty early on). Really adds to the replay.
Kane and Lynch cameos.

Cons:
Immersion-busting inventory system. Deselect a sniper rifle and watch it disappear up 47's sleeve.
Broken save system. No quick-save and loading one of the rare checkpoints resets the level and NPCs so it's no checkpoint at all.

Witcher 3 Hearts and Stones (mild non-plot spoilers)

Back into it after some time off upon finishing the main campaign. Glad I put some space between the main campaign and the expansions because it enabled me to relive the impact of W3’s incredible atmosphere and visuals unacclimatised. I avoided fast travel because it’s so damn pretty to ride the countryside.

I enjoyed the campaign and the tie-in with antagonist Gaunter O’Dimm having featured briefly early in the main campaign. Antagonist number two Olgierd Von Everec is a typically well realised dude. Early in the story my conversation path led to a duel with Von Everec. He utterly smashed me while my shots barely dented him. So clearly not meant to win that one I thought, until the reloaded game put me back at the start of the fight. Ok, gave it some thought, started dodging, casting Quen repeatedly, observing when I could get a couple in and eventually took him down. By far the longest, toughest boss fight in the game to date (Blood and Bones difficulty).

My only wish was to have more control of Geralt when he does stuff like climb ropes to get through windows or similar. Not something the Witcher engine can accommodate which means there were quite a few long cutscenes. Gorgeous cutscenes nonetheless but some more interaction during these sections would be welcome.

The Scenes From a Marriage quest was fucking awesome. The Caretaker is something from a Silent Hill game. Much of the whole quest is reminiscent of Silent Hill. The audio throughout made me jump more than a few times. Amazing ambient whispers that made me literally double-take and look around the room. Physically look around my real life room, that is.

A fitting expansion for one of the best games ever made. And I have Blood and Wine to look forward to yet.

Graphics - Un-fucking-believeable.
Combat - Buckets of fun.
Spoiler!
- Just quietly: the story ain't that great

- The text is too small
- All the RPG crafting stuff is crap
To be honest, I would have preferred old Kratos and old style character action.
A really, REALLY fucking good game, but I can't help but feel like people (me too) are so thirsty for a decent REAL game like this that their blinders are on. This is not a 10/10 game.

Quick round up of the other stuff I've played through recently.

Bayonetta (Switch)
Fucking amazing and one of the greatest games ever made. I don't know how many times I've played through this masterpiece now (a lot), but it is a fucking masterpeece.
10/10

Bayonetta 2 (Switch)
Replaying this made me appreciate it a LOT more. Technically, it is a big step up from B1. Everything is a LOT smoother, and looks far, far nicer.
BUT, the pros are right. There are a lot of problems with the technical skill ceiling that I understand, but worse than that for me is the button mashing. Holy shit, I have to put the controller down and shake the fuck out of my hands and arms because they're so tired from the button mashing (and this is coming from someone who enjoys MOSOU games).
Also, the highs are quite simply not as high as B1. What I mean is, is that it is not as Epic. The bosses are just not as spectacular.
Platinum, please return to B1 heights for B3. Please.
9/10

Peggle 2
Well. I waited and I waited. For this to be ported to it's rightful home - iOS.
And it never did. $5 on PSN? The price of a beer ffs? Alright I'm in.
Can't deny, I enjoyed playing through this a lot.
7/10

Crysis.

Ten years on, and I still can't play it at max settings and a consistent 60fps. The game still looks stunning though, and it sure as hell plays an awful lot better than it did when I first got it all those years ago.

What I'd like is a game where Kratos is able to have lots of sex minigames that pisses off feminists. Would Sony allow this? Probably not today.

I think laws need to be made to allow choking your bitch while she comes. When you are a god you should be able to get away with things. This is what Kratos would do. He is angry. I want to see him do angry sex. Would this make piss the society off? Good! IT needs to accept what artists have to say. Japan has tentacle porn and we should get rough sex minigame in our mainstream triple A titles and without any shame. No females allowed to stop this. Banning GTA5 from being sold in the department stores was thieir first assault on male spaces and it is time Sony was bold and put in controversial things. Eg we can go and watch a movie like 50 shades of grey in the cinemas right? And a woman is abused by a rich guy and tying a bitch up and doing kinky shit that is offensive to people. And it's a mainstream movie shown in public place. Now for videogames to prove it is equal to cinema entertainment sony needs to man up and put that type of shit in God of War. Stop listening to the SJW. Just stop. Let the corrupt journalists in the mainstream media give you low score and let the buyers purchase it. And ignore what others think. That is what will make Sony cool. If they do it? It will be a big step in artistic freedom in gaming literature. It means artists are free to put in things they feel are necessary to showing the side of a character that people may not like or agree with morally.

Gays and sexual deviants got the gay marriage law. But we can't have explicit sex minigames in triple A title which is offensive to people like you see in game of thrones all the time? Why the fuck not? We must cram down heterosexual sex scenes in videogames and it should HAVE TO BE SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE because of the freedom of speech and say "that's ok. it may be offensive,...but you have the option to not buy this product if you feel so strongly about this, we as artists like the message and we won't compromise."

Just like the black rappers who made music exposing police brutality in their neighborhood in the past and these groups became popular and swore a lot to get the message of anger across. Sony stop being safe. That's nintendo's job. Bring back the fucking minigames. Stop letting feminists tell you what to do. And don't make excuses by saying "we chose to do it out of our own free will, we are grown up and more mature than you 14 year olds who sit in your moms basements and can't get GF because you would rather sit down and play games like God of War on the playstation 2 instead" Bullshit. You are scared you little pussies. Just like Capcom removing titty jiggle from chun li in Street Fighter 5. Cowardly spineless shits. Good game but it would have gotten a 10 if you shown some balls. (by showing us tits)

Pretty sure Conan had this on the 360/PS3.

Its also a very underrated game imo. Enjoyed it way more than any of the early God of War games.

Conan on 360...Hmmm I think I bought that but didn't play it in depth along with that wolverine game. More hyper violent action games is what we need.

You know how they make dozens of Dynasty Warriors games, but they lack the flair of the triple A first party titles? I am surprised the western companies don't pump them out as alternatives to the dynasty warrior games all the time like Activision do with call of duty?
Is it because people in the west don't like button mashing?
I think hyper violent Dynasty Warriors (they kind of did it with Berserk a bit) but with amazing graphics and co-op would be great to see. We see dozens of twin stick shooters on the indie scene but little hack n slash and beat em up titles from western companies. Sony has He-man FFS. Where is a hyper violent take on the He-man cartoons damn it?

Or is there a threat that too much masculinity is going to mean poor sales because R-Rated movies and games can only be sold to limited audience?
The fact is more and more people are becoming scared of feminists and retreating into the world of games because of unjust marriage laws (and now the corporation is going after the gay's wallets too with gay marriage)
http://www.usavsus.info/MarriageLicense ... lTruth.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Angry and frustrated single fathers who have to pay alimony = a big market for hyper violent action beat em ups (gore and titties seems like it has become more taboo since the old ps2 days. You can't tell me they didn't tone it down from fear. Apocalypse strangling Mystique on a billboard was enough to trigger the feminist to take that down. We know sony is chicken and that explains the missing content..)

http://variety.com/2016/film/news/x-men ... 201788473/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I bet mystique got hard tits from that. If it was a male character being strangled nobody would give a shit about the violence. And if apocalypse looked like Christian Grey and had her blindfolded and chained up like a rape dungeon sex slave, the feminist would celebrate that as sexual freedom. It's a fucked up society and needs fixing. They want women to be strong and shit so why can't you strangle them like men can be strangled by the bad guy? You see the hypocrisy? Everyone needs to ignore the SJW and stop pussing out. The females like having hair pulled, whipped and choked because they have rape fantasy (provided the man is good looking) and films like 50 shades of grey seems to be able to get away with this, but a super hero movie and games can't? The more honest artists can be in their game literature about this, the more mature games become. This is why feminist need to be ignored because they are harming an entire industry with censorship of entertainment. If Kratos isn't allowed to do naughty stuff, then we should ban movies like 50 shades of grey from cinemas on the same basis of "violence against women" like they managed to do with GTA5 (selected department stores) where you can run over hookers to get your money back.

Get platinum involved in an open world he-man beat em up sony:
transformers devastation was great. Retro cartoon games are a thing.

Firewatch.

The best thing about Firewatch for mine is the pleasantly unsettling feeling I had walking around the wilderness when the story was at its peak. No sound except the wind, rustling trees and wildlife. No hud, just a hand held map. The story is as conventional a setting as you can get. You play a middle-aged, fat, depressed guy using a park ranger gig to run away from his shitty life. The banter between protagonist and his female collegue in another tower is delivered exceptionally well. I won’t share my opinion on how I felt the story wrapped up because I’m recommending you play it and to talk at all about the end would spoil it. Just don’t buy it at full price.

Oh and the game ran like rubbish on my system no matter what the setting. The fix is to go into the properties on Steam where you can choose to download a ‘test’ version of the game. It ran flawlessly.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.

First up, great game. Some of the stupid plot twists made me laugh - especially the Hitler sequences - but the game was essentially broken due to driver issues. Awesome looking game but I felt some of the set pieces weren't as impressive as the first game and it ends really abruptly with what amounts to a quicktime event. Death's Head made a better antagonist and final boss encounter. Still a great, well produced single player game, of which we need more of. 8/10.

Smashed through Super Lucky's Tale over the weekend thanks to gamepass. Not a bad little platformer, I enjoyed it but it has its problems, one being the semi fixed camera you can't pan 360 degrees, which makes finding ledges difficult in parts(this maybe a deal breaker for some), it's 4k 60fps but it does drop frames. The game isn't super long, you can do it in around 6-8 hours, looking at achievements looks like most people get through the 4 worlds fine (60% competition rate), but the final boss fight is pretty tough with only 4% completing it. I managed to down him, comes down to bullet hell dodging but yeah he was exceptionally hard compared to the other bosses.

It's definitely worth a play through if you enjoy platformers, the art style is nice and the actual platforming feel is satisfying, it offers varied games modes(2d side scroll, puzzle levels, skill challenges), I enjoyed it so much I went through again and completed all clovers in the 4 worlds. I hope they make a sequel with more content, the series has potential. I give it an 8.

Rainy weather is great for finishing off games. :)

Finished zelda over the weekend, been playing it a lot over the last few weeks, it's the first zelda game I've played in decades and honesty this plays unlike other Nintendo games, it's far more grown up and serious, it has some brutal encounters where you need to git gud, puzzles out the wazoo. The implementation of physics with gameplay is probably the best out there. So much of the gameplay revolves around physics calcs, there isn't a lot of scripting going on, it can lead to some weirdness at times but opens up interesting scenarios. Graphics are also great with complementary weather effects and particles punching above their weight for a system of this power. I give it a 9.5/10, it would get a 10 if it wasn't for the overboard weapon durability and world feeling a bit empty and repetitive at times. In some ways I feel a campaign more focused on the 4 guardians with less grind would be better.

Titanfall 2, I had this my backlog for ages and on Sunday decided to just binge through it, wow what an amazing campaign, probably one of the best FPS's I've played in a long time, I played it on PC 4k with everything jacked up, breathtaking with lots of interesting uses of parkour and titanfall abilities/combat. I really hope we see another titanfall down the line after Respawn finish off that Star Wars game, the IP has a lot of great ideas and some of the best FPS action I've ever played. 10/10

Yeah, Titanfall 2 campaign was the shit, I think everyone here that's finished has agreed asked on impressions posted. Was definitely a pleasant surprise for me as I wouldn't have bought it had it not been the SP campaign.

I doubt there will be a Titanfall 3 but the single player campaign had to be the best in recent memory, especially the time manipulation level.

I got flashbacks from Guacamelee in that level, having to flip back and forth between dimensions to make jumps, really cool to do that in a FPS. It was fun disappearing and then sneaking behind enemies and delivering a shotgun to the face. Good times. :)

The shotguns are pretty OP, I got really good at rush sliding and one shot a group in quick succession, with a mouse it's totally doable, maybe a little broken.

I shamefully enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to. All that Japanese anime insanity. Crazy characters, crazy powers, crazy bosses. Lots of yelling in Japanese. I enjoyed this more than Hyrule Warriors. I can't give it a 9, because as a game, it's not worthy of a 9, but damn it was a fun time, and I think I'll be playing this game more.
8/10
^ That was my thoughts on the PS4 version back in July 2016.
I double dipped on the Switch, and just finished it again earlier this week. My thoughts are pretty much the same as above. I think I enjoyed it even more this time around. Still the best Warriors game I've ever played. So much fun.
