Split/Second
Finished the career last night, although still have a few Golds to get on some levels but came first in all the Championship Races. Game has many 'wow' moments and right until the end I enjoyed it. Actually, now I've unlocked a majority of the cars the online is pretty good but yeah, without unlocking them online is broken.
I stand by my review score. 8 Flaming cars crushed by exploding ships out of 10.

God of War 3. 9/10.
Fucking amazing. Second best game I've played this year after Bayonetta.
Thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through.
I see Uncharted 2 is $50 now.

Red Dead Redemption - 8.5/10.
Mind you, I've only finished the main storyline and have barely touched the outfits, side missions etc and haven't even connected online due to no home internet. It is basically GTA, as the mission structure gives that away, but I found it far far superior to every GTA game I've played since GTA3 (funnily enough, the only GTA I've actually been interested enough in to finish the main story).
I think the main improvement is the controls and the shooting. A semi-decent cover system and a far superior aiming system (plus Dead Eye) mean it's just so much less frustrating to kill things. Plus for some reason I enjoyed galloping around on a horse in the middle of nowhere more than driving a car around in the city. Possibly because I never became an expert in not crashing into shit in the GTA games.
The entire mood and atmosphere is a million times better than the GTAs though. There is a theme which runs right to the core of the game, and it's brilliantly done right down to the specialist music you get at certain points in the game. At the start I thought the game environment was pretty dead and shitty but now I love it just because of how well it reflects the subject area and period.
I had pretty much consigned myself to never playing another GTA-like after getting shit bored with Vice City, San Andreas and GTAIV before finishing them, but if RDR is a sign of where Rockstar has got to with the genre, I'd happily give their next one a bash.

So much fun. Simple retro awesomeness, but with sweet sweet graphics. Sound effects and music were quality, and some fantastic moments (flooding those lower levels for the first time for example. Also the first time you realise you can run up walls and on roofs when using that superspeed thingy was

DOOM 2 XBLA
It was DOOM 2. Heaps fun, unlocked a rad t-shirt for my avatar, 800 moon money, can't go wrong.
Red Dead Redemption.
Single player was quite good. First GTA-style game I ever bothered to finish, the setting and the mo-cap of peoples faces and the voice acting was what swung it I think, very life-like. Checkpoints thorugh missions is also a lot better than GTA4, I don't think I ever was just dumped in a random part of the map forced to ride to the mission start again, if I died I restarted the mission or was given a checkpoint not long before I had died. Solid story, rather interesting ending. Still grinding in the multi as a level 27? fat mexican fucker.

Alan Wake
I liked it but I felt there was a lot of unrealised potential. You can definitely tell it was originally going to be an open world game, and then they changed their mind. The town of Bright Falls and surrounding countryside is really well done and expansive, but you're on a narrow path all of the time. The storyline was great, and if you're a fan of Stephen King (like I am) then you'll really enjoy this game. I'm really looking forward to the DLC episodes.
8/10
Dante's Inferno
I know it's a God of War rip-off but I still had a lot of fun. The jumpy-jumpy bits annoyed me though, and so did the puzzles. I swear to God my version of Hell will be a jumpy-jumpy platformer with a shitty camera and random puzzles that are only there to break up the flow. I do like good platformers though (Mario, Jak and Daxter etc.)

Lost Planet 2:
I really enjoyed the first Lost Planet and high hopes for the follow up. While the core gameplay was there the level design and boss fights just didn't mesh well.. There were a few stand out levels but as a whole not the step up you would expect in a sequel.
The concept of jumping between different alliances and playing different characters was also very disjointed (think COD but gone terribly wrong).
The other thing that was annoying was no way to just jump into a single player game and continue a game. To play single player was like setting up a Halo 3 co-op lobby then setting it to offline and picking your chapter.. No fluency what so ever! This sucked playing on my own but playing with a group of 4 mates would be fine.
Overall a fun romp not to be taken seriously and in many ways weaker than the first title. Would be good fun with 3 mates in co-op.
I give it a 6.5/10

Blur - Single Player. 8/10.
Absolutely enjoyed the shit out of it. Sadly the single player gets downplayed a lot simply because it is overshadowed by the amazing, sublime Multiplayer. Also, people that bitch about the Medium difficulty being too hard are weaksauce and need to harden the fuck up.

Mass Effect 2.
Mild non-plot spoiler...
Even though the mission's over and the credits have rolled you can still traipse the galaxy, visit friends, pash on with the crew post campaign. Can this game be any more perfect.
It's the best game I've ever played and my favourite series ever by miles and miles. It's the first series that's ever made me want to go all Scullibundo on its arse. 10/10.

Little Big Planet. 8/10.
Negatives: Too short, floaty jumping.
Positives: Game has so much charm, wonderful graphics, genius level design sometimes, OMG sensational music/soundtrack.
Really enjoyed it. 3rd last level though - ugh that was hard in the big wheel.
Really enjoying these PS3 exclusives. So glad I bought a PS3.

Lego Harry Potter - Good change to the series. Concentrates on puzzle solving over bad jumping sections and waves of enemies.
Probably the best Lego game in the series.
Only for people who are into the Lego games.

Castle Crashers- One of the many games I shelved (virtually) even though I liked it... I decided to fire it up again, loved it again, played all the way through with a new character.
It's pretty easy for a hack and slash game, vitality potions come cheap as do sandwiches which make your knight into a brute for a short time... I am way too casual for hardcore hack and slash games these days, this is just right.
piss funny, with plenty of fan service including roof cat, terminator 2 and ET (shit propelled deer flying past the moon), I love the small touches like when I made it to a new area to find one of the baddies sitting back reading a newspaper, or when you save a princess and start pashing on with her
I really want to try it co-op.
really cool art style, and the music is bang on.
one of the best XBLA games for sure, and coming soon to PSN I believe
fuck it, i'm giving this a 10/10... I don't know what they could've done better

Alpha Protocol
Awesome game and makes the dialogue options in Mass Effect look trivial. The RPG elements are also fantastic and the branching stories are incredibly deep in how different your game can turn out.
The action bits are largely terrible though, and if you try to play it as a shooter then it's terrible. If you play it by using your skills like an RPG it's incredibly enjoyable.
A game that's truly better than the sum of it's parts.

Re: Rate the last game you finished
Interesting. I'm intrigued by the game, read great things about the influence you wield over the story however also read everything else comprising production, gameplay, shooting, aiming, cover, glitches, characters, dialogue, graphics, animations are awful. I knew you had it and was keen to hear what you think so your review above is timely, ta.

Re: Rate the last game you finished
The characters & dialogue are actually great.
It's really only the shooting mechanics and enemy AI that are terrible. If you don't actually shoot anyone manually and just use your shooting skills/perks from the game it's more fun. It's somewhere between Mass Effect 2, Deus Ex and Metal Gear Solid.
If you want to get it, it's only 25quid from the UK, that's by far the cheapest version. Hope you have a 360 pad to play it with though.

Red Dead Redemption
I thought GTA4 was a great game, but regardless, damn it's great to see Rockstar back in TOP form.
The story, the graphics, the characters, the situations, the shock ending - all top notch. Some absolutely amazing scenes and scenarios.
Despite this being one of the best sandbox open world games ever, it can't hide its tired fedex gameplay. Go here, do this. Go there, shoot these guys. Rinse, repeat.
8/10.
