Looks like Namco's Ridger Racer 7 is too taxing on the PlayStation 3. We caught this poor floor rep tending to the overheated, bugged out PS3 that shit the bed during the first day of TGS. Yeah, we know this sort of thing happens all the time when you've got unfinished code running on unproven hardware, but we also know that even though you've got a Bravia television and a high end PlayStation 3, your cooling solution is wicked ghetto.
Plus, 1080p and 60 frames per second don't mean squat when you're rendering a blank screen.
We've seen a couple of kiosks and machines go down, but can somewhat safely assume this is just software related and not an issue with the PlayStation 3 machines themselves.
We'll have more gratuitous fatal system errors soon, coupled with frustrated game producers and booth reps. We promise. Michael McWhertor

You're new here, right?
lestat will trot out any vaguely anti-Sony story/rumour/quote out of context and parade it as cataclysmic/fact/"OH MY GOD EVEN SONY SAY ITS SHIT!". That's why me, mech, SJ and Pep are continually smacking him down when he pulls this stupid shit.
Is that a white PS3 or something else in that image? Either way, it is good to see someone besides Microsoft getting caught out in a pre-release showing.
That's how many games in 1080p on ps3? Also, from the trailer people are saying it has better visuals than RR6.. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Raaaccerrrr indeed!

Nope. I already know the drill I guess it just keeps surprising me...
Speaking of which, isn't it disturbing, 2 months before launch and sony still hasn't released formal specs to the public. Thank god developers have been leaking the details.
So RR7 is 1080p too? And 60fps? Haha would it be amusing to recap on some of the anti-1080p comments and the facts and figures behind them? They wouldn't be hard to find seeing as they were uttered only days ago.
Don't worry Pep. lestat will be able to come out with something utterly subjective and something almost impossible to disprove regarding detail or 1080p performance before the day is out.
Personally I expect a quote from an anonymous developer delivered third hand on an internet message board talking about some unknown problem about performance during a common rendering operation that Sony and nVidia engineers never even thought about and completely missed.
But a lot of games on the floor were shown at 1080p and were running like crap. So I'm suspecting developers are toying with the idea of 1080p now. But now ms announced 1080p support for 360. That marketing advantage sony were hoping to push obviously at tgs has just disappeared. If developers wish to push xbox1 visuals at 1080p, or plague games with slowdowns, they can do it on both machines now. Yay.
I'll stick by my comments that developers should focus on 720p and deliver true next gen visuals, if they have rendering bandwith left they should be using AA not uping the res. Especially when 1080p tv's are very hard to find still and only owned by a very small percentage of the userbase. The whole 1080p nonsense is just that nonsense hype created by sony to try and create a perception they were on another level. A hype strategy brought down cleverly by ms's 1080p announcement.
