I've only got a B, E and F class cars. I'll have to do some more solo to get my money up. Anyone own the house on the hill yet?

Your copy of the game did come with a fold-out map, yeah? The Lotus tuner is the British Specialist, at H8 on the map. It's on the western side of Honolulu near the Jaguar dealership. As soon as I buy a car these days I'm straight to the tuner for a level 3 boost.

I did the Millionaire's Challenge (I think that's its name) earlier today. The target time is 60 minutes for 200km and 1st prize is a cool million. The tour of the island is nothing compared to this baby - it has traffic and cops. I did it in my Saleen. About half way through it wasn't looking good, but I figured that I'd already sunk half an hour into it so I might as well keep going. At 55 minutes I was lamenting the waste of an hour, but then suddenly it was all straight highway in front of me and I was clocking each km in 10-12 seconds. I made it in 59 minutes and change. I was pulled over by the cops probably 6 or 7 times with ~100k in fines, but thank christ it came off in the end.

I haven't repeated any challenge yet to farm money, but there's a challenge on the eastern side of the island with a prize of $150k which only takes 15 minutes to complete (target time 20 mins).

The other night in multi, we found that the Skyline was a pretty good car, and luckily enough we all had it tuned. Slow but maneouvreable enough to be fun for people who don't know where the next corner is. Maybe we could have a couple of cars like that across the classes, that we all have tuned 3 versions of.

At the south of the Island next to the crater and near the clubhouse? Yeah I bought it since it holds 8 cars. It's such a nice spot, I wish you could wander around the house and have a look at the view.I got a C class TVR tonight so I can finally start rebuilding my cash.

Do you guys all have these fold out maps? I don't, and I checked at the place where I got it (JB HiFi) and none of theirs have it. What's it look like? Was it just part of the package or was it separate or something?

Have I been ripped off? :(

I got mine at DVD Crave 'cos it's only 5 minutes up the road from me. Sometimes they have UK imports and other strange things, so maybe the map is only a UK thing? If so, that sucks. The map is done to look like a proper tourist road map and folds out to, I dunno, A2? - it's pretty cool really.

Anyway, you could do worse than check out http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... 28101.html if you want a map.

For a 360 n00b do you blokes reckon I would be better off getting TD:U or PGR3?

I probably won't put a crazy amount of time into the game (though that would depend on how good it is, and how instantly fun it is). Consider this, I didn't quite finish MSR, didn't play PGR1, and probably only did about 30% of PGR2. If PGR3 is more of the same but with imporved graphics, physics and sound, then that's all good, but I would most likely probably enjoy something with a little more variety a little more.

Thoughts?

(If I go down the TD:U path I will probably see if Games Wizards still have their Xbox and extra wireless controller for $649 ish and then grab TD:U seperately for $88 ish total outlay $737, alternately 360 $589 + Wireless Fun Pack $149 (inc extra controller PGR3 + Kameo) = $738.. so basically the same cost, though I get PGR3 instead of TD:U and get Kameo as well. I could also subsidise the cost of the 360 by ebaying Kameo (probably around $30ish)... or alternately does anyone know how much credit that would get me on a purchase of PES6@GW/EB?

Sorry for all the shit questions. I should be def. purchasing in the next 2-4 weeks.

I bought a copy of this today ($89) but most likely won't get to play it until tomorrow or the day after. With any luck I can at least make some quick cash so as not to be the slowest player around. Does the money in single player work to buy cars online?

Edit: There was no map for me either (KMart).

Looks like this is the game to get. The fact that it is on the Island of Oahu is pretty awesome also, seeing as I was there earlier in the year. I wonder if the Mazda dealership that I visited whilst I was there is in the same location in the game :P... How accurately mapped is it?

If you can get the extra controller one at GW then I'd go with TDU. You can buy PGR3 seperatly for as low as $58 these days, but usually $69.

There is no offline/online. You basically have the whole map and play on it with everyone else. Although it seems like theres a few instances of the server and you'll only ever see the people within about 2 miles of you.

Fucken GameFAQs keeps telling me I have no referrer when trying to access that picture, even when I search for and click on it all within the GameFAQs site.

On the subject of PGR3 vs. TDU…I tried writing different things here but the end result is that you should just go and get both. I reckon you could probably get PGR3 pretty cheap 2nd hand these days, or as part of that bundle. Once you’re setup then download the demo of TDU and see if you likey.

I was hoping for that but it is better than I expected, good to see a company trying something different. Can't wait to try this one now.

Yeah the online/offline integration is pretty well done, except for trying to organise a friends race quickly.

I might move this thread to the gaming forum since it's more related to the game than the Club. Any objections?

Actually, not really, but this is the internet and I'm obliged to use crappy internet memes.

I'm with Twit that you can't really choose between PGR3 and TDU. PGR3 is owned by more people from Games Ranch, but because it's a bit old now they don't play all that often anyway. If you weren't that enthused with MSR or the other PGRs then PGR3 won't change your mind - it just is more of the same.

I did enjoy MSR and PGR2, though I lost interest with them after a while. In terms of outright racing games I am more-so hanging out for Forza 2, being a big fan of the first, though in the meantime picking up PGR3 at a good price is probably a handy alternative.

Leaning heavily towards getting the system, and TD:U... preferably with a second wirelesss controller.. though that can wait as I can now get the 360 plus TD:U for under $700.

Sorry about that, I saw the thread and replied. I would be interested to have a look at the club sometime though, I would just like to have a little go offline first to get my driving up to par. On the demo I spent more time crashed into the walls more than on the track.

Edit - all tuned up and ready to go from A to F. :)

I don't like the instant ticket for 3 solid shields. Mainly because I was low on cash and had to do some time... I would have thought 3 shields would have given you a massive chase. Only getting chased during missions is kinda lame.

Nah, it's not an instant ticket - only if you try to access the GPS. They set up road blocks at 3 shields.

I got an instant ticket, I wasn't in an event, I was driving around smashing into other cars. You know how some people just like to be jerks... I got up to 3 solid shields and got an instant ticket. It just stopped the game and fined me for $31,000.

Maybe a cop car was nearby when you crashed. That's all it takes...
