Considering there's an Achievement for making a full squad of players, after I create myself I'm going to re-create the 2006 Premiers. Then I'll look at the "legends" like Clive, Capper and Jacko

89 does not bother me that much, it was just an awesome game all round, it didn't hurt that much. As for 95 I had erased that game from my memory, until you bought it up. The 95 GF is the only game I ever left before the final siren, it was utter shit, we left before the final quarter started.

Here's how Big Ant's season simulation panned out:

1 Hawthorn 56 126.54
2 St Kilda 56 117.37
3 Fremantle 56 117.33
4 Geelong 56 97.18
5 Collingwood 52 118.25
6 Bulldogs 48 119.25
7 Carlton 48 105.05
8 Melbourne 44 110.27

9 Sydney 44
10 Adelaide 44 99.36
11 West Coast 44 96.35
12 Richmond 44 93.51
13 Kangaroos 40 97.36
14 Essendon 36 94.98
15 Port Adelaide 36 78.12
16 Brisbane 28 88.26
17 Gold Coast 16 62.97

I missed the post that listed Sydney's percentage.

While I question some of the finishing positions (Collingwood 5th? Eagles 11th? Hawthorn 1st!?) I think their top 8 and bottom 9 are pretty good (though understandably conservative, only change from last year is Melbourne IN, Sydney OUT).

Also, it's really close (top 4 equal wins, 8-12 equal wins) which I'll bet is for gameplay balance reasons. Big Ant have already said that it is possible to win the Premiership with a team like the Eagles if you're good enough, and they want to avoid the situation where everybody chooses a Top 4 team when playing online :)

I think I like that balance but you have to put Collingwood 5% better then everyone but St Kilda going by last years rankings as that was the difference between them, then it should be only a small gap to Geelong and the Bulldogs, then a slightly bigger one back to Carlton, Freo, Sydney, Hawthorn with a bigger gap back to the rest of the back and then a little more frmo them GC and Brisbane and maybe West Coast. That way there's say a 20% spread in ability from 1 to 17 which is probably the only difference in the league on any day when top plays bottom etc and then on a good day top can be challenged/beaten by bottom but usually being that small % better holds up in AFL.

I think Port to smash West Coast this weekend, I'll post some photos of the scoreboard for you Ambrose if you like lol.

I played this in store today, and I must say i am pleasently suprised !!!

I only had one game and it was hard to judge as it was with another person in 2 vs 2 play.

But I am very impressed at this effort by a new dev, AFL isn't the easiest game to portray in a game but I think they have made a fair effort here especially as its thier first effort, this will be definatley worth playing i think, even better is it is a great grounding for future iterations.

If FIfa was in its first ever incarnation by a brend new dev I couldn't see it being done any better than this.

Definatley purchasing and supporting the local devs in the hope that they stick with it, and we see an improving game each year.....

One thing that shitted me the most about the previous games regardless how crap they were was piss weak AI, i will be happy if the AI at least puts up a fight and the netcode is decent the game is a winner......
2nd place is the first loser....

OK 360 it is, I'm excited about this game now, I am feeling a bit disconnected with the AFL season knowing I wont be here for 7 rounds I am not getting too excited, I even miss the home showdown :( Also that and it looks like its Collingwoods with only a couple possible to challenge.

I'm gonna be 6 weeks behind everyone :( I can't wait for it now, I played AFL 99 etc to death, if this is half as good and it does appear they have the game play down then I'm gonna love taking Port back to our rightful place at the top of the ladder.

Yeah 99 wasn't bad actually, I can't believe it but i am actually looking forward to playing this in a couple of weeks now, next years is going to be a big improvement on this game (as long as it sells) So i really hope it sells decently enough to get a really good AFL game on a console finally....Go Rooboys!!1 Premiers 2013,etc :P

I've owned AFL 99 (PSone), AFL Live 2003 (PS2), AFL Premiership 2005 (PS2) and currently own AFL Premiership 2006 (PS2). I've played the AFL 98 demo (PC).

The best bit about AFL 99 was the awesome hits you could lay on the opposition:
One thing I've finally been able to put my finger on with what the the new game has done right compared to the old ones is the sense of scale. In the old ones the stadiums would technically be correct, in that the ground would be the right dimensions, the stands would be in the correct positions etc. But what the new game has nailed is the sense of scale. The MCG looks like a Colosseum now, just like it did during last night's telecast. I reckon I'll have goosebumps running down the wing in front of 100 000 screaming fans :D

I hope the sound effects match the sense of scale they've managed to achieve.

Just an idea of the stats recorded by the game. Apparently there are more on other screens:

Image

Some great depth there

In their season simulation, Collingwood are playing St Kilda in the Grand Final. Doubt that will happen in real life considering St Kilda's form at the moment, but realistic given how they finished last year.

And Daniel Kerr won the Brownlow

EDIT: 360 screens too for a change

Collingwood won the premiership in the simulation (from 5th spot too!)

Cheapest price so far is Dick Smith at $89.94.
