AFL Live (Xbox 360 and PS3) - OUT NOW!

Re: AFL Live (Formerly AFL 2011) - Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii
Nah as I said I'd buy it day 1 regardless but that actually looks much better then I first could imagine and it's in game. It looks much closer to the EA efforts which were very playable and would have been even better if they kept working on those engines. I'm just so skeptical after trying to play the last couple of AFL games, got literally half a quarter into the last one - it was unplayable. They camera is good to, commentary isn't much of a factor to me.

Re: AFL Live (Formerly AFL 2011) - Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii
I just watched the latest trailer for the game on facebook and it only had the PS3 logo on it. Any ideas what that is about?

They've said not to read anything into that Grey. I'm not sure why they only had PS3 logos on the trailer. Apparently the games are identical, and when Xbox World played the game and wrote up their preview they played the Xbox version.

Some impressions of some of the more in-depth control you have other the players:
Some perspective:
I posted Gold Coast earlier, missed Brisbane (my bad). Glad the Eagles have improved!
Decent phone footage:

First off the graphics are great, players are easily recognisable especially when you are running along the boundary line as the camera slowly zooms in.
Was able to take a few set shots from the boundary line, the banana kick works fairly well, you have to hold "R2 & Square" together to kick a banana kick. Torpedoes are awesome to pull off but you can't hold the power meter all the way as it will shank the kick so you have to release just before 100%. Hand-balling to a player running into space works so well, I remember in previous games how the player would stop when he received a handball but this game the player doesn't break stride at all. Also hand-balling while getting tackled is going to be a necessary way to clear the ball in most situations but you have to direct where you want to handball it.
Kicking into space worked well also, I had a player running on the lead with another player coming from the other side of me and I had to sprint to get there to mark it before he did which I liked. Spoiling works very well, you have to hold "L2 & Triangle" to spoil and you can direct where you want to punch it! Speed wise you can definitely notice the speed difference between players eg. Ruckman vs. small midfielder. You can also do snapshots on the run using the square button but you have to be very precise where you aim as it can drift off the side of the boot most of the time.
WOOHOO!!!You get more XP when you play as lower ranked teams, huge advantage for those who support teams currently in the "rebuilding" phase.
Some perspective:
Based on Big Ant's internal match simulations, here's the ladder so far:FIFA has had more than US$500,000,000 spent on it so far through all editions.
Madden spent more on their menu system than we spent on our entire game. They spent us$45,000,000 on the last iteration.
They announce a new team each week. Port's default line-up:15 - Port Adelaide 36 78.12
16 - Brisbane 28 - 88.26%
17 - Gold Coast 16 - 62.97%
I posted Gold Coast earlier, missed Brisbane (my bad). Glad the Eagles have improved!

Re: AFL Live (Formerly AFL 2011) - Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii
Excuse me if it's mentioned elsewhere in the thread. The umpire balls it up instead of bounces. Wonder if that means the bounce didn't make it given it seems to be reasonable weather. Also would've been nice to get some gameplay vision instead of replay highlights only.

Re: AFL Live (Formerly AFL 2011) - Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii
Gameplay footage:

Crappy camera phone quality again, and there's an annoying announcer guy in-store crapping on about the game, but the footage still looks good. It's a 2 v 2 game, so it's a bit messy - all 4 human players crowding around the ball Auskick-style. Set shots look really difficult. Gameplay is FAST.
I don't like the camera angle. I'm still hoping for a behind the ball carrier view.
EDIT: YouTube tags not working?
Try this
EDIT 2: Actually, the more I watch the more I realise goal kicking is fine. The player didn't compensate for the wind enough with his first set shot, but didn't learn from that mistake with his subsequent shots. Wish I could play him online

15 Power 36 78.12
16 Lions 28 88.26

There's one glaring change I'd make to that default starting line-up. Hams to the forward pocket, Naitanui to the bench, Ebert out of the team.
