Pokémon Diamond and Pearl - New Sales Record

Post by Talez »

2 million copies of Diamond and Pearl in hours, 500,000 DS Lite units with it.

Good thing to know we've all outgrown the Pokemon fad.

Advertising for this was pretty huge. Nearly every second ad break in japan ran one of the two adverts for the game. One ad was for the new cartoon series that was starting on the same day as launch and the other showed the voice chat functions of the game with a bit of in game footage.

So the figures were overestimated a bit.

The important thing is that:

PSP --> :fight <-- DS

~1.6M sold then. Not bad for a 10 year old series that was apparently "just a fad".

Ive so far never played a pokemon game. Are they actually any good?

I've only ever played the original Blue and Red versions and they were great games.

But yeah Im pretty sure all the later versions were pretty much the same just with new monsters.

Is there speech samples for each pokemon yet? Something so obvious and fundamental to the cartoon should be included in games with hardware capable of it. If its cart limitations then hell re-release red/blue for a THIRD time and do it FUCKING PROPERLY! add wifi too(does the new one have wifi?). Not that i'd give a shit if they did but it should be a real dominating game and give us some spice over substance.

The wifi allows for trading which is pretty awesome, you can put up your pokemon at an ebay style market, set what you want to trade for, ie male ponyta, level 20+ or just a ponyta. and if some one can fulfill your trade it will happen.
