I'm less than impressed by the 360 versions tank, the Wii version looks even worse... But I think the whole approach taken to vehicles in COD/MOH/WW2 games usualy ends up looking pretty crappy regardless of poly count and texture res, vehicles just never seem to look right with the kind of lighting these games use.
On the subject of COD3, I read on GAF that at a recent multiplayer press demonstration they had some 1080P TV's for the PS3 version, but not all PS3's were hooked up to 1080P sets.. Wonder what the go is with that? The actual multiplayer impressions were great though, renewed alot of my faith in the game.

It brings up a couple of interesting questions:
1. How many people are going to just buy the Wii- with all of this talk about Wii60 and PSwii, how many Wii consoles sold are going to be the only console they own?
If someone came up to you and said "I am going to buy one console to play games- should it be the Wii?" What would you answer?
2. What are the franchises going to sell like for the Wii? Take COD3- if I have a 360 and a Wii, I'm probably going to get the 360 version, even if it does have a gimmick (see Madden). If I want the version with the gimmick, I probably am going to buy 2 copies. I'm guessing that Nintendo may have more third party support than in the past, but the problem with the console only being used for exclusive titles will still remain.

If someone asked me "I am going to buy one console to play games - should it be the Wii?" I would tell them that it depends on what games they are wanting to play. It is the answer I always give. The 360 has a small library of games for them to choose from, the PS3 and Wii both have unknown libraries with a medium launch list (we have a rough idea for the PS3, and a better idea for the Wii at this stage). Then I would ask them to consider what extra features they want, these days you get more choices. Do they want dvd and audio playback, do they want online browsing, do they own an existing console and want to also play those games on their new console, do they want to play older titles from previous gens. So much to consider for a gamer. So if they can work out those questions they can find the console they really want.
I don't see the Wii doing well in the cross platform department. Mainly because most people are graphic whores. For genuinely interesting new games, I see the Wii being a winner. In regards to a game like COD3, I am going to be buying the 360 version. I don't need to buy two copies of the game just because of a different play method.

And fanboys aside we all give this sort of advice. But Wii is going to have to win gamers in this way- nobody who is going to buy one console is going to ask for 'unique experiences'. It will work for kids (before they become teenagers) because their parents approve of the brand and price and more casual gamers who want to play short spurts. But it probably won't satify the needs of most people who usually are interested in console gaming- the teenage boys, the twenty- somethings who use it as a form of relaxation/ socialising with their mates, those with more money than sense and too much time on their hands. And the money is in the latter rather than the former.GreyWizzard wrote:If someone asked me "I am going to buy one console to play games - should it be the Wii?" Unique experience doesn't necessarily limit itself to the control method, but also to genres and exclusive games.
If someone can only get one console, and they really like RPGs, the best option will be the PS3. If they are into a bit of online FPS action, they will probably gravitate towards an XB360. If they can't live without their Zelda or Mario fix, then obviously the Wii is the way to go.

multiplayer sounds like it's going to be killer, I know haters are thinking (it's been done before!) but I don't give a shit, this will be awesome.
watch the latest vid while you're there, I think that guy KNOWS they have created a winner.
i'm so pumped, if I had to choose 1 game this year this is it.
