Candy and I got up to some retro gaming on the weekend.

Eternal Champions (MD and Mega CD)
Streets of Rage 2
Sonic CD (on the original Mega CD)
Super Streetfighter 2 Turbo (Saturn)
Mortal Kombat 2 (Saturn)

Oh and he owned me plenty in SF4. That was always a given!

What is the Saturn version of MKII like? How does it handle Shang Tsung's transformations?

We didn't play it long enough to find out. It was okay.. just a very bland port.

SNES version is better. Better controls, even better audio. Why they cut audio samples out of a CD version of the game is confusing. I was playing with an arcade stick, and pad on the SNES is better.

Streets of Rage 2 on the hardest difficulty is bananas towards the end.

Short of buying an arcade unit I'd love to get my hands on the best home version of MKII. It's probably the PC version which I used to own and was probably chucked out when my parents moved.

Pretty sure it's the 32X version.

Best home retro version? That's a discussion we can have since they were all flawed in some way. The 32X version was a slightly beefed up MD port.

My retro room of doom now has had the couch replaced with a feeding chair for our soon to be born baby.

His toy box is also in there due to the small size of his room.

Is this how it starts going downhill?

I especially get a kick out of using newer technologies to load software on the original hardware. Here I'm loading games on a Spectrum by passing to audio from my iPhone out the headphone jack into a car cassette adapter.

Bloody cool. That system was where I first played video games. We even had that atari attachment and the steering wheel you've got! We had River Raid, Donkey Kong, Smurf, and I can see Zaxxon in the background. I loved playing Turbo with the wheel.

Wow, good memories.

Awesome collection there! That Colleco with the Atari attachment was very highly used in our household when I was young! But playing Ladybug on CollecoVision will be a memory I treasure forever. Love that game!

Didn't play Ladybug, but I used to love Venture as well. Defender too.
