Re: The retro thread
I was thinking more along the lines of a plug-and-play image/torrent that had everything in one and could be navigated with a controller.
That does remind me, though... I downloaded a massive pack of Amiga ROMs and put them on my old Xbox. I'll have to fire it up again to at least pull them off it, possibly have it as a permanent setup in my bedroom or some shit.

$140 for a GAMECUBE NINTENDO component cable or half that for a Wii with component cables? I now have a Wii in my retro room. Unbiased gaming FTW.

Re: The retro thread
I feel sorry for people who missed out on the amiga. I have very fond memories of the games and especially music in a lot of them.Shaneus wrote:Wow, I had no idea Flashback used Amiga as it's lead platform. Just checked the intro, and holy shit... yeah, that's awesome: But not as good as the version found on the Mega CD: BAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Quick, find me the easiest, best way for me to play the Amiga one right now. Preferably something that fits well with comfy couch gaming.
Edit: On that note, I fucking love tracker music. I can only imagine how much more I would've been into it had I actually owned an Amiga. The fact that they'd release a two-disk game solely so they could put an intro on one is fucking awesome.
Even stuff like double dragon 2 intro music which I found to be cooler than the arcade.
Don't forget Chuck Rock. Whoa.

Re: The retro thread
Stumbled across my old Xbox yesterday, reminded me that I should get a USB adapter and one of those old school joysticks that had the two Cherry-switch arcade-style buttons. I think they had a grey base and red stick/buttons. That's a very specific memory, for some reason.BOOMY wrote:If you have an old Xbox lying around then use http://www.xboxisozone.com/downloads/2591/WinUAEX-v18-(Amiga-Emulator" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).html if you dont then get a VGA cable plug your computer into your TV and use http://www.winuae.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: The retro thread
Something I only stumbled upon today, but has been about for a couple of months that Candy and co may be interested in.
It's called Devolution, it's for the Wii... WiiU... GC... well kind of all of them.
It's a massive stuff-around to get happening, but the end result is playing GC games on your WiiU in upscaled Wii mode via HDMI using a Classic Controller or even a PS3 controller.
I'm not going to write a tutorial or anything, but the basic concept goes like this:
You mod your GC-compatible Wii, and you mod the Wii Mode of your WiiU, and install the necessary apps;
On the Wii, you run a ripping program and Devolution to verify the rip (anti-piracy measure, won't verify unless original disc is in Wii's disc drive).
You move the ISO to your WiiU and you pair your Wii Remote to the Wii U, as the verification file is stored in the Wii remote.
You can now play GC games, upscaled and through HDMI, on your Wii U, with a variety of controller options - including wireless PS3 controllers. You can even output the game to the gamepad, though I don't think you can use the controls on the gamepad to play it.

Re: The retro thread
Wii output to gamepad was via the latest system update.
That's pretty cool. I wouldn't mind trying that with something like Chibi Robo.

Re: The retro thread
I got out my modded and softmodded Wii last week. I have no idea how to get it to work again. All that shit was amazing, except that it was a massive pain in the arse to get working at all.

Don't you just boot it up and goto the games loader and play?

Re: The retro thread
Good Game's (ABC) latest episode is with hosts Bajo & Hex in Japan (for Tokyo Game Show coverage).
There's a good segment where both go vintage game shopping in Akihabara (Japan's electronic, computer, anime, and games district).
http://www.abc.net.au/tv/goodgame/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (video titled - "retro shopping")
They also go over to the offices of Famitsu Magazine and interview the editor in chief, hit Tokyo's arcades, etc...

Re: The retro thread
Uhh, you get it all out of the box, plug it in, push buttons on the loaders and stuff, they don't work. You give up and do something else instead?
