I also think that there should be smaller denominations of MS points, but I'm not anti the points system.

What has been said about the PS Network has the assumption that there will be a uniform currency conversion between items. If something costs $1 in the US, will it be on our PS store for $1.33, or 54p in the UK? There will be rounding, and it will be up, not down, or even worse use the old euro logic for pricing. At least when I buy something with MS points, I buy the points at a comparable price for my currency.

that's a good point actually, everyone pays the same price for everything on the marketplace.
Sony will probably set the prices for each country, meaning some people pay more (probably)

that's the only argument i can see for a system that deliberately attempts to hide the actual cost of what you're buying

Let's be frank. Trying to globalise basic things through standardisation usually never works. Remember when Swatch tried to make internet time? . Some companies try and make you spend more money with value packs, some pack in games with their console, Microsoft is giving you toy money to play with instead of real money.

There will actually be a lot of extra work for Sony to make localised versions of the network, even if it is web- based. Every time a microtransaction is added, it will have to be added into several 'marketplaces' at the same time. Not a criticism, just more work that they have to do in the background.

or they could just have a simple script that converts it to your native currency awfully quickly?
