That wasn't even funny nor did it make any sense whatsoever. :?

Why would Nintendo revise their production plan by deciding to manufacture millions upon millions more Switch units than originally planned - and to then sell them at a loss in a fire sale?

Idiots!

Looks like the Nintendo-Capcom partnership with the Monster Hunter franchise will continue on with the Nintendo Switch...

I honestly don't know why you would want to be an early adopter of this console. Besides about 3 games this year there really is nothing coming out.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, Splatoon 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, Pokemon Stars, Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles II...plus third party games including Super Bomberman R, Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, Sonic Mania, Dragon Quest X, Dragon Quest XI, Sonic Forces, etc..

I think it's a fine list of games for a gaming system's first year. :?

The likes of games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or Super Mario Odyssey alone make the Switch worth buying.

Super Mario Odyssey is about 6 months away from release (the first REAL 3D Mario platformer since Super Mario Sunshine over 15 years ago). Note that EAD Tokyo are developing the game (and SMO has been in development for over 3 years) and with EAD Tokyo's previous masterpieces including Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Super Mario 3D Land, Super Mario 3D World...I really think we are 6 months away from the release of another potential "best game ever made". :)

Isn't that the same list as last gen but with different numbers?

List edited to reflect that all of those 3rd party games will be on superior platforms and other games removed as they are of dubious quality, on previous consoles and or unknown/niche quality. This is what's left, pretty sad. Definitely not worth the $469 they are asking for entry.

Unless honest Jim Sterling reviews it. Then it'll get a realistic score....which will probably be an 8.

By the way, Jim's review of BoTW got the same score as GTA Online. I'd tend to agree considering the "best game ever made" is actually only as good as the online component on GTA. Of course Jim reviewed GTAV and gave it the 9 it well and truly deserved. So really, you're better off buying GTAV if you're a fan of open world games. You'll get a far better game than BoTW with an online component as good as the whole of BoTW.

Jim Sterling's a bitter fat bitch who has a vicious vendetta against Nintendo for trying to have his videos pulled off YouTube.

And who really cares what Jim thinks when REAL game reviewers (unlike Jim who's a click-bait attention whore) have collectively given BotW perfect scores?

You do realise that these scores are based on a Zelda game and not out of all games ever released on all platforms, just 10/10 for a Zelda game, not 10/10 for a fighting game, or a racing game. Just the best game in its franchise.

Don't forget to port Ultra Street Fighter IV to Switch capcom. And also look into porting older games like Dragon's Dogma which nintendo fans(who only buy one console per gen and choose the nintendo) still haven't been able to play. (assuming the switch does great in the long term.)

Playing some of the older games on carts on the go is enough of a reason for a fan of the games to want to to "upgrade" to the definitive release. (think like the HD remaster craziness of the PS4 in the early days of release with ports of old shit, but with the added benefit of taking the game with you anywhere to play it - this wil give us something to play during the quiet period of the console's life before the big releases. )

One thing capcom could do is actually do remakes of the old classic games like the Breath of Fire series 1-4 using proper 3D graphics. (much like Square-enix do with Final Fantasy games. It would suit the Switch a lot more because of the more cartoony art style. Consider celshading the world like Zelda Wind Waker/Breath of the Wild and trying to give it a painted picture style for backgrounds like in anime)

Dragon Quest/Final Fantasy always get re-released in shiny presentation, but Capcom neglects their own RPG series which is a shame imo. Although not as popular as the Square Enix rpg games, the Breath of Fire series were solid JRPG games for their time. Maybe capcom can ask nintendo to help them fund it in exchange for making it exclusive? How long until the next major Zelda game? Probably 5 years again so in the meantime capcom can plug up a hole in the library with Breath of Fire remakes. Monster Hunter and SF seem to be capcom's main focus and with SF5 being sony exclusive it doesn't look like they can make any new money off that game on another machine. It's time to revisit old franchises again and give fans of the games upgrades to the old ones. Zelda OOT 3D and Zelda Majora's Mask 3D on the 3DS were amazing with upgrades to textures and the 3D gimmicks. Nintendo respects its old franchises and rakes in new money from fans of the old games all the time. Time for capcom to copy this and start thinking about long term money and tapping into people's nostalgia the way ninendo does. (not just dreaming about turning resident evil into call of duty zombies game. :P )

I blame third parties for that.

They are probably too scared it will sell like crap and then get destroyed by Scorpio so they are holding back doing anything until after the userbase is high enough to justify scaled down ports of existing games to it.

We have reached a point where they will only go for the safe platforms. This opens up opportunities for less well known developers to get the spotlight as there is less rivals on the switch to compete for attention now. (being a handheld machine on tiny 720 screen means they could get away with small budget graphics and do something original without the pain of having gazillion people who worked on it relying on it to sell amazing numbers to profit like these big triple A publishers require)

I often what would happen if there was a no man's sky clone on the switch which was actually as fun as an elder scrolls game but in space? A small team that has high skill would be able to make decent graphics on switch and like minecraft, slowly add things new to it so it doesn't get boring. With nintendo backing, they could turn it into a star fox side game where you are pirate looting other ships in space to survive and since there are no laws in the areas you are in, you get looted yourself by rival pirates and have to fight for your piece of the pie. (you could play mercenary but its the same deal of earning money to live. Put in some rogue-like elements and you have dream portable space dogfighting game - ie no shit controls. But you have cartoony characters like Galak-Z where it rips off every anime trope from the past)

What do all these games have in common:

-Enter the Gungeon
-Nuclear Throne
-Rogue Legacy
-Binding of Isaac
-Galak-Z

...blood hard gameplay because you cannot predict what is going to happen loading it up. The randomisation offers unknown dangers that you don't feel in traditional nintendo games. They could make the best rogue-lite on switch but introduce good graphics and multi local gameplay. But unlike No man's Sky you need skill to survive as seen in the good roguelite titles. (When enemies appear you need to know their attack patterns to get good dodging or avoiding danger, and then after killing the loot lets you sell it, upgrade your ship, or bring back to base to consume/use on yourself to live. With the latest Zelda game you can tell nintendo ripped a lot of ideas from survival sims so they seem a lot more open now to these kinds of ideas in games.

Sorry two games worth buying this year, definitely not worth purchasing. I have zero interest in a paintball game.

Please don't underestimate Splatoon as a mere "painball game".

The game is absolutely incredible, and has sold millions upon millions of copies...Splatoon has even OUTSOLD Halo 5!!!

Critics have also raved about it with EDGE even proclaiming that Splatoon is the best shooter of the generation!
