Yep. I got my copy today. EB didn't have it.. so JB HiFi was my store of purchase.. which.. hey.. it always was going to be.. but it's always fun going and seeing the differences..

I was able to get FFXV brand new cheaper at EB though which was bizarre.

Anyway.. looking forward to sinking some hours into Xenoblade this weekend.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2, despite being a good game, has the worst image quality in portable mode I’ve even seen. It sometimes looks like super-compressed jpeg with sharpness filter applied. They need to remove the sharpness filter ASAP. Resolution drops as low as 368p, so the whole game in portable mode is very blurry.

It's pretty.. till it starts moving.. it's choppy in open places or complex towns.. and the draw in isn't fantastic. Kinda spoiled by other recent games. Hell.. even Andromeda has a better enemy draw in.

BUT.

It's still got a style that is engrossing. It's very Skies of Arcadia. Am really enjoying it.

The characters have the Skies of Arcadia vibe.. It is lush in terms of the environments and they have a similar feel.. specially the huge big airships.

I'm only 8 hours in.. but there is so much to like.. but more for you - so much in common with Skies.. yet being a different game.

Nintendo should patch the game to allow you to review tutorials. Never over-estimate the intelligence of the player. That is how you avoid turning off people from your games. Always assume they are dumb rather than assume they are smart.

You fuckers also seem to forget that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a game developed by a small studio (Monolith Soft) who only have the resources/budget to develop one game per Nintendo console generation (niche games which don't even perform well or have much appeal outside of Japan...like most JRPG's).

This game ain't (and never was supposed to be) of the quality of a Super Mario/Mario Kart/Zelda...etc (these games are developed by Nintendo's finest development divisions, unlike Xenoblade).

These Nintendo games have worldwide appeal and make Nintendo hundreds of millions of dollars - thus they boast a top tier development team of hundreds, and of course a significantly higher development budget.

Halo 5 is supposed to be the AAA blockbuster must-have magnum opus of Xbox One....and it's quality as a game is the equivalent to a niche genre JRPG developed by one of Nintendo's second tier minor development studios...

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (even with it's faults - e.g...a resolution occasionally dropping as low as 368p in portable mode) is the Metacritic equivalent of a high scoring must-have game on Xbox One (Gears of War 4, Call of Duty: WWII, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, Quantum Break. etc).
