INSANITY! THOUSANDS OF JAPS STILL LINING UP TO BUY A SWITCH!

Post by Jasper »

OMG!!! Yesterday morning's lines across Tokyo & Osaka of THOUSANDS of people waiting for the CHANCE to purchase a Nintendo Switch....

Remember, stores are still having to resort to a lottery system. The way it works is stores will announce that they received a new shipment of Switch units, then people have to line up outside the store. The people who had their number drawn will be allowed to purchase a Nintendo Switch.

And this week Splatoon 2 will be released! It's going to be INSANITY in Japan!!!

Face it the japs saved the console game industry. Without nintendo you'd all be playing street fighter on keyboards like candy arse. They are just jealous Jasper. Keep posting about the theme park and lines of japanese guys waiting for switch. The fact of the matter is it shows how much more hardcore japan is about gaming and casuals will never understand this because they steal roms which harms the sales of classic games and causes companies to sell thier precious IP to EA who will ultimately destroy the thing they just bought just to make fans of the games cry because they will not do as good a job.

Zelda BOTW is amazing because it did what ET couldn't do: It sold more copies than exists Switch consoles. That is fucking funny. Why didn't capcom succeed when Dragon's Dogma came out? It makes me kinda angry,.
Whenb capcom makes an open world game nobody gives a fuck. When nintendo does it, all of a sudden they get 10 out of 10 from everywhere. Japan is slowly catching up to the west in making more immersive rpg games and I think the western companies are scared. Witcher 3 basically scared the shit out of Bethesda enough for them to not bother releasing an elder scrolls 6 game due to how it would inevitably be compared to CD Projekt Red's game.

Can we expect western companies like EA to give us a sequel to Kingdom of Amalur? Nope. They would rather make generic shooting games like that star wars battlefront thing which everyone said was crap when they finally played it despite jacking off to the graphics. Japan must not allow western companies to win, or every game that comes out will be about pandering to the SJWs who don't buy games and think they are more important than the ones whose money is keeping the industry alive. Is it revenge because people no longer watch tv anymore so they want to destroy games industry from within? The japanese companies are keeping gaming real. Look at Dragon Ball Z vs MVC Infinite.
People are making fun of MVCI because it still looks dated. It's the SJWs that are behind it I reckon. (chun li's boobs look like they are sagging down to her belly button FFS)
Japan on the other hand still makes accurate representations of things.

If non-weeaboos drew the characters they'd deliberately make them as ugly as they can possibly get away with just to piss people off or to outdo bethesda in making ugly faces.

One thing that gets me though is why don't SNK go down the route of Blade Strangers?
I hate the newer KOF look. Yes I like the smoother animation, but I wonder if they kept the 60fps animation of CG, but left everything to look cartoonish like SF3? We saw that shit in Tatsunoko vs Capcom and I don't see why they don't just keep them like that? TvC had celshaded models that moved smoothly, combining the smoothness that you get from models with cartoony 2d look of old games. Now imagine if they gave us the Guilty Gear Xrd look but they kept the animation smooth like we see from anime movies which use higher grade of quality over tv series animation? That's what I think SNK should do..

SPLATOON 2 REVIEWS ARE IN (IT'S EVEN BETTER THAN SPLATOON)

Post by Jasper »

Image

Splatoon 2 reviews are in...and they are FANTASTIC!!!

It even has a higher metacritic score than the orginal Splatoon, as well as other shooters in recent years including Wolfenstein: The New Order, CoD: Black Ops II, Prey, Far Cry 4, Metro Redux, Battlefield 4, CoD: Advanced Warfare, etc..etc..

Eurogamer: Recommended

By any reasonable measure, this is a better game than its predecessor, and not just on quantity alone. It no longer benefits from the shock of the new - for that, you have to look towards the outstanding Arms - but it's most definitely an improvement on what remains one of Nintendo's finest games in many a year.
Metro: 9/10

This is one of the best online shooters ever made. Splatoon 2 remains so effortlessly and irresistibly entertaining.
Destructoid: 8.5/10

With more concessions for higher-level play and a deeper meta, veterans will be jumping ship from Wii U to Switch in an instant. Here's hoping that Splatoon 2 gets even more long-term support.
CGM: 8.5/10

Splatoon 2 delivers everything that made the original great and tosses in a few improvements for good measure. The Switch library just keeps getting better.
Game Informer: 8.25/10

Through focusing the best elements of the original game and adding meaningful new content, Splatoon 2 is a good follow-up to Nintendo's popular shooter. With a great competitive multiplayer suite, a fun take on the wave-based survival formula, and an imaginative single-player mode, Splatoon 2 is an excellent evolution.
Gamespot: 8/10

Splatoon 2 is easy to love. It's colorful and quirky and unafraid to be different, and it's consistently a blast to play. As far as shooters go, its unique movement mechanics stand out and make each match exciting. Splatoon 2 is a vibrant and exuberant sequel with enough fresh additions and changes to set it apart from the original.
Polygon: 8/10

What the first Splatoon did well is still built into the sequel’s barnacle-encrusted DNA, and now it’s on a system that you can stuff in your bag or play on the couch.

There are still enough imaginative additions for anyone who played the first game to death, especially via its strange, captivating supporting cast. It may be much more of the same, but the same is still pretty fresh.
VideoGamer: 8/10

It's strange and well made, and it'll tide you over a few hours, but the multiplayer is still the star. The continual circulation of maps keeps everyone on their toes, occurring often enough to be interesting, but not so frequent that it becomes annoying. Splatoon 2 improves on the original and the Switch is a good home for it.

Uh oh. Switch soft mods not far off now.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1408398
The scariest thing about this is that they are not normal cartridge ROMs, but the hackers have already decrypted the contents and posted those in way that they hide the unique identifier that cartridges have.

Most of you don't realize, but the Switch hacking community is incredibly talented, as the people who helped hack the 3DS are now working on Switch, and as some of them have reported, the Switch OS is based on the 3DS one, making things easier.

The following things have already been achieved privately:

Userland code execution
Kernel has been dumped
Cartridge dumps
Extracting private data from games like models (data mining)
Backing up saves and transferring them to another Switch
Editing saves
"Cheating" in games by modifying RAM values

And a lot more that they haven't disclosed publicly. You can find most of them on Twitter, they post lots of interesting things about this.

With Splatoon 2 failing to reach the Metacritic heights of any of 2016's best shooters (Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2 or Doom) now is the best time to check out the Ranch's 2016 GOTY, Doom:
It was bound to happen eventually: Bethesda's demon-destroying FPS Doom has been updated to version 6.66. And it's not just a cleverly-numbered (although not especially original) revision. The update unlocks all multiplayer DLC content for all players, including maps, weapons, demons, and equipment, and also overhauls the multiplayer progression system.

Previously, guns, equipment, and customization options unlocked randomly, but under the new system everything will be tied to specific level requirements and/or in-game challenges. That means players can now pursue specific items they crave by focusing on related challenges, rather than simply hammering on everything and hoping for the best. The new system will also see all veteran players reset to level 0, but that's apparently not a big deal, because "that's just your level."

"All veteran players will have the option to completely reset their unlock progression items and experience the new progression system fresh, OR retain all of their existing guns, equipment, demons and customization unlocks that they’ve acquired or purchased and then unlock the remaining items through the revised progression system," game director Marty Stratton explained. "Regardless of whether you keep your gear or choose to re-earn it, we’re giving all veteran players a special badge recognizing their previous experience in the game. For those elite few who have achieved the max Slayer level, we’ve designated a special Slayer badge for you."

Other changes include a new Runes System, which replaces the Hack Module System, a major update to the HUD, kill card revisions, and "numerous improvements throughout the menus and user interface, including completely revised post-match summaries as well as updates that better illustrate player status in lobbies, highlight the new progression options and status, and better outline weapon, equipment and demon characteristics."

For those of you who haven't yet sampled Doom's charms, Bethesda also has a free weekend on the way, starting at 1 pm ET on July 20. It will also be on sale during the free period for $15/£12. The full 6.66 update patch notes, and an FAQ about the changes, are here.

See, this is why nintendo always promote games which have gimmicks in them that requires unique control systems jasper:

it makes it less fun to play on pirate machines because there is requirement to use the unique controls to enjoy it properly.

Now you know why it is so important for nintendo to NEVER go third party. Once that happens they are doomed which is what their compeition want. Yes the pun was intended.
Guys like Candy don't HATE nintendo so much as they wish they could play thier games on other systems.

If this happens and nintendo go the way of sega, I can garuantee the games will play worse. You can't control what framerate you get if the platform wasn't designed by your guys. The game quality will dip and you end up like EA with titles that lack the polish of first party in-house triple A title.

Although people like Candy may hate that nintendo is still hardware company, I like the idea that they can do something different if they want to. It lets them stick out more. ARMS is new game. A new IP. It may not be to the taste of the traditional FGC who likes existing franchises, but it's a demonstration of nintendo showing they can keep doing stuff people havnn't seen. That's how you keep the brand fresh. Not just upping the graphics capability. And these guys don't get that. Once a game like say Zombie U or Mario maker loses the gimmick it no longer feels fresh. It's a constant battle between hackers (probably paid by microsoft and sony to hurt thier rivals) and greedy corporation trying to give people excuses to buy new shit. (eg all those COD games that use the same formula but feel like the same games sold as new ones) Then people wonder why companies like SNK die off and have to use cheap looking CG graphics over the hand drawn stuff. Because people are pirating roms instead of the company seling them to fans who want to keep the franchises alive. (ie it's too expensive to do the hand drawn sprites now because of lack of funding and so the FGC suffers as a result of this when their fighting game series goes belly up due to shrinking honest customer base)

That is why I think the retrogaming consoles like SNES mini are so great for people on limited budget. Fans of the older style games with traditional controls can save money by buying these roms, giving the makers of the old games easy money to suport sequels to the games, while nintendo can keep providing hardware. (controls stay the same as original console they were made for) Today if a game doesn't have gimmicky controls that require the original hardware, it can easily be enjoyed on the other rival systems. You don't want that if you want to stay different from the other two platforms. You want to give a reason to give people to experience new game with new gimmick. (Mario Maker being the best last gen example that wouldn't really work on this gen's machines as well without the tablet gimmick)

Just read this article from GAF on the Nintendo Switch voice chat and I can't believe how bad it is.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14082" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Full article:

https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/07/ ... -chat-app/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Quotes are from GAF user:
As Nintendo points out in the app's official FAQ, voice chat cannot run in the background while using your phone for other purposes such as "texts, social media, etc.":

"The voice chat will disconnect while you're talking on the phone or using another application, but your voice chat will restart in the same room once you open the Nintendo Switch Online application again as long as the game session is still ongoing."

What's more, early testing confirms that the app won't work if your phone goes into power-saving "sleep mode," with the screen inactive. And don't bother trying to use the app to chat with your Switch friends while away from the system, either: you can only join chat rooms with people when you're actively playing a specific, supported game with them.

This is all in sharp contrast to Sony and Microsoft, which have allowed simple party chat directly on their consoles—across games and at the system level—for years.
Practical impact aside, the design decision is simply baffling when you compare the Switch voice chat app to other phone-based chat solutions. Everything from Skype to Discord to the built-in phone app on your smartphone lets you continue talking to others while doing other things with the phone. For Nintendo to require its app to run in the foreground when other apps prove it's not necessary is just strang
But wait, there's more.
GameXplain said you can't even pull down the notification tray on your phone while using the app and voice chat. You immediately get cut off.
They should have stuck with Miiverse.

WTF? :?

Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 have MC scores in the same ballpark of Splatoon 2. As for DOOM (aka Game Ranch's 2016 GOTY)...there's literally a ONE fucking point difference in the MC score between Doom & Splatoon 2.

And besides the shooters you mentioned, Splatoon 2 has a higher MC score than nearly all the other shooters that the Game Ranch majority have been cummng themselves over in recent years (Wolfenstein: The New Order, CoD: Black Ops III, Prey, etc...all of which have a LOWER Metacritic score than Splatoon 2).

Splatoon 2 even has the same exact MC score as Halo 5 (aka...the one game that is supposed to be the Xbox One's flagship blockbuster game of the console, similar to how a Mario platformer game is supposed to be a flagship blockbuster game for a Nintendo console).

The truth is whether Splatoon 2 has a MC score of 84 or 94...it doesn't matter to you fuckers. You will ALWAYS desperately look for a reason to hate on Nintendo.

For fuck's sake...Zelda: BOTW has one of the highest scores in MC history (and boasts the most perfect 10/10 scores of any game in MC history), and that STILL wasn't good enough for most here at Games Ranch (yet you're all stroking your cocks to AFL Evolution in a multi-page thread dedicated to that piece of shit game). :wanker:

So cut the bullshit...just like it was with Zelda: BOTW, just like it currently is with Splatoon 2, and just like it will inevitably be with Super Mario Odyssey...the same circle of "forum cunts" (Candy Arse, flipswitch, t0mby, PhoneMonkey, MiNiStRy) will keep trashing Nintendo games because the Games Ranch majority hate (and in fact, have always hated) Nintendo.

And why do so many here at Games Ranch hate Nintendo? Because the majority of you are pathetic, bitter & homeless/console-less Sega nerds who have since childhood been conditioned to hate Nintendo.

Eat shit fuckers...your precious Sega is DEAD and Nintendo is still around raking in the millions with the Nintendo Switch being a global phenomenon and flying off the shelves!!! :thefinger:

Ambrose owned you in every orifice after your Metacritic pimping backfired spectacularly.

BoTW has been proven to be overrated empty, lifeless take on Skyrim with none of its charms along with ratings that reek of nostalgic Dutch row-boating.

No one hates Nintendo, but anyone is well within their right to stick their nose up at Nintendo's pathetic attempt at an online service, it's nickel and diming attitude to pricing, using a medium that applies a tax to all titles sold, and forcing consumers to buy the same games over and over again.

The fact is that the top shooters this gen are only on platforms that matter.
