Wii U will consume only 75 W of power under full load - half as much as PS3/360. Power consumption drops to 40 W when browsing menu, Miiverse and other non-gaming applications.
That's handy seeing as I use a bicycle hooked up to a battery to power my consoles. Oh, no, wait, I just plug it into mains power like every other person ever and don't give a shit whether something uses 75W or 150W..

Wow. $599 here I bet.

This just seems like it should have been a new 'console' like how Microsoft marketed the Kinect. If only the Wii had been HD in the first place.

And I have my reservations for the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a rushed rehash/money grab, but am interested to see what they do with it.

Definitely not going to buy a Wii U just for it though.

Described as a way to "Find, Watch and Engage with TV, Movies and Sports," Nintendo TVii is a wildly cross-integrated entertainment solution that will turn your Wii U GamePad into a "second screen experience" while you watch your favorite content. Miis will be used to mark off personalized favorites for different family members in the same household, while the GamePad will let you control your DVR to record shows, set favorites, tweet your reactions to live moments on TV and more.

Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video and Tivo will each be integrated. "Bringing all of your services to one place," is how President Reggie Fils-Aime describes Nintendo TVii.

Nintendo TVii is included with every Wii U purchase, with no additional fees.

Monster Hunter 3G Ultimate - Online play confirmed & JAPAN/USA/EUROPE release in March 2013 confirmed.

Exclusive to 3DS & Wii U. Also 3DS/Wii U versions includes cross play!

CAPCOM CONFIRMS MONSTER HUNTER™ 3 ULTIMATE FOR RELEASE IN MARCH 2013

The Most Expansive Instalment in the Monster Hunter™ Series Comes to Europe and North America

London, UK – September 13th, 2012 - Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today confirmed that Monster Hunter™ 3 Ultimate will be launching on Nintendo’s Wii U™ console and Nintendo 3DS™ system across Europe and North America in March 2013.

The popular fantasy action franchise Monster Hunter™ is now one of the most iconic gaming series in the world selling over 21 million copies worldwide since the series began in 2004. Players take on the role of a hunter and are sent to explore a settlement within the Monster Hunter™ universe, completing quests on their journey to seek and slay monsters whilst improving their skills and earning equipment upgrades. With many challenging monsters and over 200 quests the latest edition to the series is set to be the most expansive offering to date.

Monster Hunter™ 3 Ultimate utilises the functionalities of the Wii U console and Nintendo 3DS system to provide players with a truly intuitive hunting experience. The touch screen feature of both platforms allows players to quickly access in-game books, weapons, field maps and mini games whilst the high quality graphics of Wii U and 3D visuals of Nintendo 3DS powered by the latest iteration of Capcom’s MT Framework deliver a unique and stunning world for players to explore. Taking advantage of the portability of Nintendo 3DS, players can exchange their guild card that contains all their hunter’s information with other players via StreetPass™.

Players can experience the world of Monster Hunter™ alone or in four player local play using Nintendo 3DS. Finding nearby hunters to adventure on quests with is now even easier via the local Nintendo 3DS search feature. Wii U players will be able to enjoy the hunt with Nintendo 3DS players via a local wireless connection. Gamers that own both a Wii U and Nintendo 3DS can take advantage of the inter compatibility of save data between the two consoles, taking the hunt from the living room wherever they go.

Wii U Australia Launch Details...........

Launch Day: November 30th

Price:

Image

$349.95 for 8GB Model

Image

$429.95 for 32GB Model

13th September 2012 – Following today’s European Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo Australia announces that their latest home console, Wii U, will launch across Australia and New Zealand on 30th November, 2012. Wii U is an HD console that offers more choice and variety of gameplay than ever before, with brand new gaming experiences enabled by the innovative Wii U GamePad controller, whether playing alone or together with friends. The Wii U GamePad offers an integrated second screen and can also be used independently of the TV set with certain software.

Two launch hardware packs were announced along with the strongest line-up of launch software in Nintendo history. These include third-party heavy hitters such as FIFA 13 from Electronic Arts and Activision’s Call Of Duty®: Black Ops II, Ubisoft’s ZombiU™ and RAYMAN® LEGENDS as well as in-house titles like Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. U. The Nintendo Direct presentation also revealed previously unannounced upcoming software titles exclusive to Wii U, such as Capcom’s Monster Hunter 3™ Ultimate and BAYONETTA 2, developed by Platinum Games and published by Nintendo.

The Wii U Basic Pack at the SRP AU $349.95* features a Wii U console with 8GB internal storage and a Wii U GamePad, both in white. The Wii U Premium Pack at the SRP AU $429.95* contains a black Wii U console and Wii U GamePad, and with 32GB of internal storage provides more space for downloadable digital content. The Premium Pack also contains a stand for the GamePad and console, a charging cradle for the GamePad, a sensor bar and the Nintendo Land software. Both packs also feature an HDMI cable and AC adapters for console and GamePad.

The Wii U Premium Pack also features a reward programme called Nintendo Network Premium that grants points for digital purchases in Nintendo eShop. Valued at around 10% of the original Nintendo eShop price, this credit can be used against future purchases once you reach a minimum of 500 points**.

With retail competition, the premium model (which includes Nintendo Land) will easily be available at probably $399!

The Xbots/SDF are having a meltdown over at NeoGAF over Bayonetta 2's exclusivity to Wii U!

Like literally going insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My favourite so far.....

Sega just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Bayonetta 2 for WiiU, nor will they purchase any of Sega's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Sega has alienated an entire market with this move.

Sega, publicly apologize and cancel Bayonetta for WiiU or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime would only confirm two titles that would definitely be ready when the Wii U launches in North America November 18—"deluxe edition" pack-in NintendoLand and side-scrolling, Super Mario World-inspired New Super Mario Bros. U. But Nintendo also unveiled a list of 50 titles that would be available in the "launch window," which the company defines as the period from launch through the end of March 2013. Individual launch dates for each of these titles will be announced directly by the publishers, Fils-Aime said.

Perhaps the most notable thing about the list is how many titles are simply ports of games that will be anywhere from a month to a year old on existing consoles by the time the Wii U launches. That list includes versions of Mass Effect 3, Darksiders II, Madden NFL 13, FIFA Soccer 13, NBA 2K13, 007 Legends, Batman: Arkham City, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2. While each of these games will sport new features that make use of the Wii U's touchscreen GamePad, it's hard to imagine any of those features compelling people to buy a Wii U if they've already played the game on a current-generation HD system. More likely, these older ports are targeted at customers that might only own a Wii and are looking to play catch-up with some of the high-profile releases they've missed over the last year or so.

The launch-window game list also includes a number of contemporaneous ports of games that will be coming to other systems later this year. Some of these games are titles that would likely not have received a port on the underpowered Wii, such as Assassin's Creed 3, Ninja Gaiden 3, Aliens: Colonial Marines, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Other multiplatform titles seem best suited to the family-friendly audience the Wii U appears likely to cultivate, such as Skylanders Giants, Just Dance 4, and Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. Overall, it's a good sign for Nintendo that its system won't be missing out on versions of some of the most-anticipated multiplatform games during the launch window. The long-term test, though, will be whether the Wii U can handle ports of games designed for Sony and Microsoft's next consoles (currently expected for the 2013 holiday season at the earliest).

But it will be the Wii U exclusives that really sell the system. If Nintendo wants to see Wii-style shortages of the Wii U through the vital holiday sales period, it should do its best to get potential first-party system sellers like Pikmin 3, Wii Fit U, and Game & Wario out before the end of the year. As far as third-party exclusives, Rayman Legends and Scribblenauts Unlimited seem best poised to really show off what the GamePad brings to the Wii U experience, based on early demos of both titles.

It's also nice to see a few indie titles getting attention amid all the high-profile games from major publishers. While Trine 2: Director's Cut, Runner 2, and Toki Tori 2 are all sequels to indie titles that are already moderately well-known, it's nice to see Nintendo saving a bit of space in its launch window lineup for games without a massive company behind them.

Your point? :?

Virtually every console launch is choc full of ports. I think like 90% of the 360's launch games were ports, a lot of them in fact downgraded ports of PC games released months beforehand.

And besides, Wii U is getting plenty of very impressive exclusives for launch. New Super Mario Bros U, Rayman Legends, Nintendo Land, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Lego City Undercover, Zombi U, The Wonderful 101 (previously called Project P-100), etc....

Super Mario Bros U alone on launch day is going to make for a phenomenal start for Wii U.

WOW.........

I knew New Super Mario Bros U was a day 1 launch game, but Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is also a day 1 launch title in Japan.

Nintendo are going to absolutely own Japan this Christmas with both Wii U & 3DS. Nail in the coffin for Sony in the motherland!
