I remember struggling to play this one in the shops. It was either hard or the controls were hard to get to grips with. Am interested.

Wow, definitely excited. Hopefully Fade to Black gets a remake. Still one of my best memories of early PSX gaming.

Wow I was only just watching old clips of flashback the other day. I loved that game. The atmosphere was so rad... and that intro! Love it.

On the remake - Why the fuck does every protagonist look the fucking same? Holy balls he looks like Drake/Cole/Shepherd. Fail.

I remember saving money to buy it... The animation was mind blowing. 24fps proper animation... It said so on the back of the box! I watched my brother complete it.

I don't think we need a remake though. What made it special back then (pushing a system, new styles of animation) just aren't there now. Unless they made a new game and redefine some aspect of gaming it's just a cash in on your childhood.

People played and enjoyed Flashback because it was fucking awesome, the fact that it looked pretty was a bonus.

The game itself was ahead of the bulk of games we were playing on consoles. Mostly platformers, simple shooters and beat em ups. This used deep story telling and amazing graphics to give us something new. What they are giving us in the remake will end up being generic and similar to what we currently play.

I'm all for an HD remake of FFVII because it didn't bring anything exciting and new to the genre, it just exposed the genre to more people.

I just think the original game is fantastic and some new graphics aren't going to make it any better than what it was. It's more likely to harm than help.

He looks like ryo hazuki from Shenmue. The voice acting seems terrible

It's his facial hair. Should have been modelled off a 90s dude, like Luke Perry.

Definitely not seeing the love over that trailer. Bleh character; generic much. Plus it looks like the original's atmosphere just doesn't have a place in today's market, replaced by some dopey story and moar explosions.

Been playing this remake for the last 2 or so hours. It's serviceable, but my advice for Flashback fans is to lower their expectations.

Yeah I never saw this as being something amazing.. Candy confirms it for me now. If it was good I would have it to have been raining semen.. in Brisbane.. from his explosion.

It's certainly not bad, I'm still playing through it and enjoying it because I'm such a homer for the original, but it does come off a lot like Shadow Complex, just....not as good....in any way.

What kills it are the clunky controls and some retarded design decisions.

They even fucked up the original game's inclusion - playing it on a small arcade screen?????

Good news - Flashback actually IS back now.

A "special" 25th anniversary edition was released today on Switch, which makes it around the 165th time I've purchase a game with the title of "Flashback".

This one actually IS worth buying because it's the original game with the original cut scenes that run at the speed they ran at on the Amiga.

There's also an "enhanced" version where you can select a number of stupid graphics options that ruin it, but they overlay a tutorial mode and add a baby mode where you can rewind after you fuck up.

Can't believe the anniversary edition is 5 years old.

Glad to see the Switch version is on par with the Amiga.
