Couldn't have set out for that world score order

Re: MNR '13. Forza 4. 8.30pm Syd/Melb.
I've been doing some tuning of that car. I'm no expert and hardly dabble with the tunings in these games at all, but this is my setup so far and it's faster than the setup I was using last night to do 440km/h.
Firstly you need to upgrade it to 881KW and 799kg. Basically upgrade it to AWD, V12, turbocharged, and then put all upgrades on except the rollcage, wheel upgrades, and aero. Those just increase weight but don't increase power.
These are my actual tuning settings:
Tyre pressure:
max
min
Gearing
2.20
3.71
2.30
1.64
1.23
0.97
0.77 (doesn't actually matter, the car doesn't get into 6th gear)

This has a 'simulated' top speed of 438.8
I'd be interested in anyone's findings with tweaks to this tune.

Re: MNR '13. Forza 4. 8.30pm Syd/Melb.
Is the 3.71 ratio your final drive? You've got 7 gear ratios listed there and if 3.71 is your final it might confuse others sticking it in the wrong place. Gears ratios should go highest to lowest (1st gear to Top Gear).Hercy wrote: Gearing

If 3.71 is your final drive then tinker with it a little. Try 3.9, 4.1, etc and you may be able to use your 6th gear and increase your 'in world' top speed depending on downforce applied even though your simulated top speed may drop.
I used to spend hours setting my cars top speed so it would reach it at the end of the longest straight in a track, well for racing sims (Forza, GT etc). I would also make a save per track (EG name it MR2 Class A Tsukuba Short. MR2 Class A Maple Valley Long etc) so you can load them on the fly, but obviously it's a little different in an open world racer where courses differ all the time.

In autobahn style.

In like a probable power cut.

I found that the time taken to shift into 6th gear hurt the top speed achievable by the end of the drag track.

2.2 final drive?
Re: MNR '13. Forza 4. 8.30pm Syd/Melb.
Wait, I don't get what's funny. If I change the final drive ratio I won't get any more top speed. The car reaches its limit of aerodynamic efficiency and can't go any faster.

Re: MNR '13. Forza 4. 8.30pm Syd/Melb.
I don't understand gearing at all, but wouldn't a transition from 1st gear @ 2.20 into 2nd gear @ 3.71 essentially mean you slow down? But you've listed 7 gears not 6, so is the 2.20 for reverse or something and 1st gear is the 3.71? That would make more sense wouldn't it?
Re: MNR '13. Forza 4. 8.30pm Syd/Melb.
The tuning screen shows final drive followed by gears 1 to 6. Hence 7 numbers.

Re: MNR '13. Forza 4. 8.30pm Syd/Melb.
The higher the number the quicker it will get to that top speed, depending on your gear ratios. Have a low number would take too long to get there. As someone that has changed many diff heads (final drives) in real life from 4.5 down to 3.2 I know a little bit of what I am talking about. Obviously irl it's easier to change final drive than gearbox ratios so we were always opting for faster acceleration (around 3.9-4.1). You can still get the same result for top end, but reaching that top end will be quicker.Hercy wrote:

Re: MNR '13. Forza 4. 8.30pm Syd/Melb.
I wasn’t planning on joining your MNR thing yet because I’m still very newb and I didn’t want to drag anyone down. Plus I had to leave a bit early, but the brief go I had was good fun so thanks. A few questions:
- I’ve got the combi van and just found the Jeep last night. So I also need a Datsun 1200 right? I hope I can get a sky blue 120Y Coupé which would let me open the bonnet, pull out the air-filter and smack it on the ground for an extra 1kW of pwoar before the start of each race. Are there any other must-haves I should be aware of?
- Are the dinky little headsets that come with the box sufficient or are they such garbage that they annoy everyone with echoes and shit?
- What assists do most people use? I’ve just left everything at default for the moment but I realise that might be making me a no good dirty cheater scum.
Re: MNR '13. Forza 4. 8.30pm Syd/Melb.
Everybody's welcome, especially bad drivers who make us feel better about ourselves. But I recall chasing you in King more than a few times so I think you were doing all right.
The Datsun 510 is the only Datsun in the game (I think). If you want to mod those particular cars, you should save the stock tune first to make it easy to return to because we race them in stock form.
I use the included headset. I don't have any problems with sound but I do think it's a bit uncomfortable.
Use whatever assists you want. It's better to have fun on your own terms rather than having someone insist on some purist's vision of how you should race. I have a lot of assists turned off because that's what I find fun but I'm not going to tell you how to have fun. So stop asking. Sheesh.

Also, turn damage off for online. While it makes things more interesting, you're almost never going to finish a race.
Required MNR cars ( stock )...paint jobs are recommended though.
VW Combi
Willys Jeep
Datsun 510
Outside of these cars and events, you are able to race any of the cars in your garage depending on the class and event.
Good to see a lot of you for the first time in a long time too.

Those 3 stock cars above all give pretty similar races (that are heaps of fun, I might add). I wouldn't mind an agreed-upon stock car that isn't quite so slow - maybe C or B class?

I'm thinking more of a run-of-the-mill road car that we leave stock. How about the 1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata?
Pity there are no club cars, then we could pre-bake a bunch of stock cars ready for MNR.

I'm ok with that but we'd all have to talk in lady voices during the race.

Great fun for the few hours I popped on last night. Nice to hear a few old voices shit talking as per usual.
