So what's the story here, what are you all using? Can I just use one of my many original XBL headsets?

I did it Spoony.
You need a 360 headset dongle and you can solder the wires from your old headset into it.
Having Rasta hair forced me to.The new headset was impossible to use.
There is also the X30 (?) which I gave to my mate. It's comfortable and all,but I still prefer the oldschool LIVE headset. The problem with the X30 for me was that the mute/volume was on the cord and it was a bit of a bitch using it mid game.
http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-191.html Here's a start.
It's pretty easy.

I got my X30 from EB. I think they've also got the X10 which is the over the head one. But either are better than the standard 360 headset.

I had the X10 from the orig xbox and hacked a Yum Cha 360 headset dongle onto it.
If you want to buy an outright headset the X10 should be quite cheap and of much higher qualerty than the official headset.

I picked up an X10 for the 360 at EB - $40 - 50% off with their sale.

Awesome, thanks for the info fellas.
Wait... was my Xbox 360 supposed to come with a headset? I don't think I saw one in the box.

Australian 360s didn't come with the headset. US ones did.

Let me rephrase that... Microsoft Australia decided that we would prefer the remote in our packs rather than a headset.

Anyone heard any news of when the wireless headsets are supposed to be released?

In the US it came with a headset, we got jipped in aus.
The standard headset is the one you get in the XBL starter kits.
I like my X30.

I'd rather the remote than the headset judging from it's quality.

Launch period premiums in the US got a free remote as an extra but I don't think it's in the packs anymore, anyway, by the time the offer ended, we still didn't have the console, did we?

I wasn't aware of that, I just assumed my US 360 coming with both meant all did.
