Xbox Live and Multiple 360s - HELP!!!!

Post by GreyWizzard »

There are now two 360's in my house, and today I wanted to check the options for MP in Undertow. Mainly because of completely shithouse AI... But yeah, I got the message saying I cannot host game due to my firewall settings, and I was like what the?? because I have done all the port forwarding crap and have an open nat. So I am thinking the game is a lying peice of turd, and decide to check my settings. I run the test and get the message saying my nat is strict. I run to my computer and check my router settings and all the correct ports are open and my xbox is running on the correct IP address... and I am lost as to why a statically assigned IP is not accepting the port forwarding info of the router.

It seems that multiple 360s on the same network can cause issues, so if my housemate turns his off suddenly my NAT is full open and ready for anything.

Anyone have any ideas on how to setup multiple 360s on the one network?

I don't understand a lot of the terminology myself. I was only a network administrator for about a year or so and have have been doing IT for the last 10 years now... If anyone has any ideas and detailed instructions on how to fix this issue please let me know.

I have a linksys router, and my 360 has a static IP if that is any help at all.

Put the host Xbox into DMZ. Then see what happens when you run the second at the same time. I find far less issues arise for hosting when running it that way. And I've run two consoles on the same network..as recently as the Halo3 release.

okay, so I put my 360 into the DMZ... does that mean I can port forward the second 360?

What model linksys? May be worth getting the firmware up to date. Had a bastard of a time with my Dlink till I updated the firmware.

yeah cause I found it odd that even though my 360 has been allocated the ports turning the other 360 on first will mean I cannot use them.

I'll check for updates for the router as well.

okay adding it to the DMZ didn't help at all, same issue. I can only assume that for some reason which ever 360 is booted first is getting priority on the ports... even if the ports are forwarded for a specific IP. I can only assume it just means ports aren't allocated for a specific device.

I still have to look into updates but not being able to use two 360s on a single router easily is pretty shit if you ask me.

The solution we have so far is... if I want to play online with people I turn mine on first as all the prts are setup for my 360. That way I'll get all the forwarding and have no issues connecting to others...

It sucks balls.

The better solution would be to buy a new adsl 2 router that has been confirmed to be live compatible. Unfortunately we only bought this one when we first moved in here not that long ago... <sigh> times are tough.
