Same. Stopped playing ages ago due to having a newer game. I've got Mass Effect 2 to 100%, then I'll finish Red Dead and I'll probably get back to this.

I loved this too but I gave up on the 4th disc. I really should finish it.

Re: Lost Odyssey - Asian version is PAL compatible
I'm up to the 2nd disc now, not too far (I think) from where I stopped playing last time. As a relative noob to the world of JRPGs, and considering the fact that this is one of the hardest (especially at the start), I'm finding it a lot more enjoyable playing with a spoiler-free game guide.
The dreams are brilliant, and as mentioned earlier in this thread, the death of a certain character on disc one is incredibly sad. Probably the saddest thing I've seen in a videogame (a few of the dreams are right up there too).
GameSpy gave this 2.5/5!? What the fuck?

Re: Lost Odyssey - Asian version is PAL compatible
Best idea ever.
I opened up Lost Odyssey and found a 1 month XBL card that was apparently expired as of June 2009, but I gave it a go and it worked!
Also I got some bonus thing for LO as well, Master's Script or something...
Anyways, I'm not very far into the game - just arrived at the big staff after going through Epsilon Mountaints. Maybe 2 or 3 hours in?

Re: Lost Odyssey - Asian version is PAL compatible
How rpg heavy is this, like, what could you compare it to? Is it a light rpg or quite indepth/heavy? I want to go check some videos but I don't want to see too much. Bare in mind I don't play many, I think I've completed Sword of Vermillion, Mass Effect, most of Disc 1 of Skies on DC (random battles made me rage quit) and didn't like Final Fantasy VII at all (enough to not play any others), but I did like Blue Dragon.

Re: Lost Odyssey - Asian version is PAL compatible
Funny, you didn't like skies or FF7 but liked Blue Dragon. This has random battles so there's every chance you'll hate it. This game is a traditional JRPG. I think what I like most about it is it feels more mature than the other RPG's. The 'dreams' can be quite moving, sad, and it's more difficult than most RPG's too.
As a JRPG fan it was pretty easy for me to like it. Having said that I haven't finished it!
But to answer your question - I would call it a more mature FF7 and I'd put money on you not liking it.

Re: Lost Odyssey - Asian version is PAL compatible
I didn't say I didn't like Skies, I actually did like it but one random battle too many ruined it for me. If LO is a bit more mature I may give it a shot anyway if it's cheap, must be relatively oldish by now.

Hmm, it's hard to say... what aspects made you dislike FF7 so much? What did you like about Blue Dragon?

Re: Lost Odyssey - Asian version is PAL compatible
Well with today free finally decided to crack Lost Odyssey, am about 2 hours or so in so far but seems pretty cool. Still getting used to the timing of the weapon boost attack thing from rings. 2 dreams so far, are they easily missed? The first one is in the first slot and as far as I know is unmissable but the second one I found is like 7 slots down..
edit: also lol, I don't remember posting this in the online forum??

The dreams come roughly in order so I'd say you've missed a few.

I've done all the Light, Middle, Heavy, and Super Heavy Backyard battles now - when I finished them it unlockd one more battle.ebe wrote:Talk to me when you've finished the BackyardSeraph wrote:Disc 4!
Haven't tried that one yet. I've three-starred all the others, though.
I ended up buying the Seeker of the Deep DLC, too, as it is only 80 points.

Re: Lost Odyssey - Asian version is PAL compatible
I knocked over the last Backyard battle last night and picked up the three stars, and I made my way through most of the DLC dungeon.
There's no save points and some of the regular battles were pretty brutal, so I didn't try my luck against the ominous-looking door on the bottom floor.
Achievement-wise, now that I have all the (non-DLC) game's accessories, I'm picking up the last of the learnable skills for the characters, which will leave me with just the last dungeon, and the DLC boss left to take on.
There's still a few DLC accessories available as drops, and apparently the skills they teach are really good, but apparently it takes about 20 hours of hunting the enemies (on average) to collect them all, so I think I'll pass on that.

Re: Lost Odyssey - Asian version is PAL compatible
Knocked over the DLC boss, and then finished off the game. Quite enjoyable.
The new game plus mode, on the other hand, is terrible. I suspect the full title of the mode is
"New Game, plus the immortals join the team at level 50". You don't carry over any inventory or abilities.

Started playing this again (disc 2). As far as RPGs go this has to be the most difficult which is a good thing. I remember going through Grandia 2 without dying once.

Re: Lost Odyssey - Asian version is PAL compatible
You clearly haven't played many RPGs. This game is really quite easy.
