IGN gave Red Baron Arcade a 2:
One of my fondest memories of this game was watching a friend play - he came up with a cunning plan to swoop down on an enemy formation from out of the sun. Unfortunately his swoop was a little too magnificent - he gained too much speed and the wings broke off, so he was basically a passenger as his plane dropped comically right through the middle of the enemy formation to its demise.
Perhaps it would be a good thing if we don't get this locally. I'd rather have that Astro Tripper thing, which IGN gave an 8.
Pity, because ye olde Red Baron on PC was awesome. I remember playing it heaps back when I worked for a company that allowed us to play games during our lunch breaks. I played it to the point where I became an ace and could create my own custom paint schemes 'n stuff.Perhaps it's fitting that the first thing you'll see upon firing up Red Baron Arcade is a plane shooting holes in the Sierra logo. It probably would have been more appropriate for it to take a leak on the mountain, having the run-down trickle onto the Dynamix logo, but the message is the same: "F you, one of the greatest franchises in PC history, we're going to ruin all the good you did and wreck the nostalgia people still have for you in one fell swoop." That the game was done -- and so poorly -- by the folks at Stainless Games, the same people behind the Carmageddon series, means it besmirches yet another name in the process.

Let me guess, another 130MB that takes around 40 minutes on a 6Mbit connection to improve things that nobody cares about anyway?
I am so tired of turning the PS3 on (for games) once a month only to have to wait for this to update, then be prompted for a game to update with another 30-40MB.
One thing I guess is that useless trophy thing might be quicker although I just wish they would copy Microsoft and include a "blade" when pressing the PS button rather than a slow loading copy of the crossbar.

Yeah, I can sympathise with those who don't use their PS3s regularly - hence the "grab it now lest it become an inconvenience" comment (the inconvenience being having to do it when you want to play a game). This one was fairly quick for me though.
...
In update news stuff - in the US they are giving away Rag Doll Kung Fu, so if you have a US account then you may as well grab it. There's also a new Home apartment you can grab for free (for a limited time, then it's no longer available).

I have no idea what is going on then. Again, with this update, I started around 3:15am and it is now 3:45 and it is only at 45% in the downloading stage. Everything else is fine - I guess I will go back to the USB method as that was much quicker... although still too long for what it does.mech wrote:40 minutes, wtf?
Edit: 3:55am on the dot and it has finally rebooted. That is exactly 40 minutes as expected.
Another thing - thanks for the heads up on that free game, I am downloading it at the moment (full speed ~550Kb/s).
