1080p component vs 1080p VGA
Bought a new TV today (40" Bravia), spent some time hooksing it all up, but since I've got an older Pro 360 I don't get HDMI.
Now I've noticed that with the VGA output on the Bravia it can run at every resolution except 1080p. With Component of course it goes all the way.
Recommendations/thoughts? I will test with some games tonight, but looking at the front-end alone VGA produces better colour, but is it enough to make up for the lack of resolution?
I also wonder if I can upscale DVDs over VGA but not 1080p.
PS3 via HDMI =

No wait I'm just a retard, I wasn't waiting long enough for it to work over VGA.
Am doing some testing right now in VF5, 1080p component vs 1080p VGA, and I prefer the VGA image, at least for this game. Through component the blacks are crushed, through VGA it's really quite nicely balanced like the PS3 version.
Had to do a bit of tweaking for the VGA picture but it looks pretty flash. Will test some other games though to see what the deal is.
I quite like how picture settings are saved to each connection with this TV.

yes VGA works fine at 1080p on Bravia's.... well works on my Bravia 40' W series....mech wrote:VGA works fine at 1080p on Bravias. I have a feeling component will look better though, vga from 360 looks like shit.
huh??? re: VGA from 360's looking shit??? VGA looks smick on my Bravia.... I use VGA as I swap between a HDMI and non HDMI 360 (its just easier with cable/audio swapping) ive tried all 3 and there is fuck all difference between VGA and HDMI unless you sit right in front of the screen.
Component is useless if you plan to use a HD DVD Drive... (another reason why i use VGA)

I'm going to stick with VGA for 360. I had a look at Episode 3 on DVD via VGA then Component, and Component looks rather embarrassing by comparison. I will happily view my old DVDs if they're going to look improved like this.
Had a look at Bioshock in VGA and it seems a tad washed out vs Component, and more aliasing?
