Gamma, I think I missed your invite thingie because I was in the middle of another game...but I'm guessing you should be able to bring people to your pod (or I can join you) and try your level without you having to publish it first.

I'm keen to try it out...

Maybe that was the problem, I was sending the invites from within the level (though I made sure it was in Play mode since I know there's no online co-op Create as yet). I'll pop on tomorrow and try again from the pod if anyone's around.

I finally did the tutorials and got the scoreboard, so the level actually finishes now. Bonus.

Argh!!! This editor is even more frustrating than the game! Fucking thing seems to screw up on a regular basis - it consistently loses settings, forgets things that are glued down, slightly moves stuff out of alignment so you can't get it to line up again...

Honestly, I'd like to do something with this but my patience is running thin. It desperately needs a patch to fix these bugs. I'm sick of running around my level fixing up things that I already fixed 50 fucken times.

What do you mean Jizz - popup speech sort of text? You can add that by chucking a mouth part somewhere, which can be triggered by proximity or whatever and you can specify the text to be displayed. Or do you mean text written on walls or something? Stickers is all you have for that I think.

I wish someone with a PlayStation Eye had the time and inclination to make letter stickers. Jizz, I guess you could make letters yourself out of shapes, capture them as objects, then just make them flat before applying them anywhere. Needless to say it'd take fucking ages if you wanted a fancy typeface, but you could get a legible alphabet together relatively quickly.

Give me a yell online whenever you see me playing LBP mech, the level's not published so I need to invite you to my pod.

I have the eye now, my level is ranch based... if I capture letters they'd have a shitty solid background

Have you done the tutorials? You get stuff for doing them too.

Using the eye would probably be easiest anyway. Then your level can be banned for including copyrighted material or some shit.

I went through the tutorial before starting the level, but there's more when I go to use some items.

I have numbers only

Oh, I should probably note something that I learned today after my rant about frustrations with the editor. Apparently other people recommend using glue as little as possible, and someone even mentioned a limit on how much you can glue before things start falling off. That may be what was happening to me. Instead they recommend using dark matter wherever possible to hold stuff up. I might try that and see what happens.

The problem with lost tweaks has also been experienced by others, but I'm not sure there's a real solution to that one.

Just checked my stickers. I could probably make you a basic games ranch sign using the stickers in the game and then make it an object which I could put in a prize bubble which you could win in a level.

That's the only way I could thing of sharing it. Probably still better to just use the Eye.

It would be much easier if you wanted the sign to read "KEBABS".

I unlocked some letters last night

I also tried the PS eye on a nice high res piccy of the GR logo... didn't turn out good at all, in fact I gotta say the ps eye is a heap of shit!
i've had way better results with the xbox camera.

i'm a bit dissapointed, I bought the thing to use when creating levels, plus the stickers don't resize well at all either

pilon, yes you need a headset.

jizz, I was surprised at how good the photos were in low-light with the playstation eye, but I do seem to remember having difficulty getting good photos with the lights up... go figure.

It doesn't have a macro mode does it? That's going to make it hard to take pics of things for in the game.

They've probably done that on purpose for copyright reasons or genitalia reasons as well. Could you imagine a level with swaying peni in the background? Well I know Candy can. ;)

Fuck this editor still pisses me off. It's been so slow and difficult to get just the start of a level done. Forget about tweeking LEDs. You can set the colour, save the level, play it, colour has been reset to white, go to the editor, tweak it again, rinse-repeat, that setting never sticks. Try it yourself - it's fun for the whole family (assuming you're the murder suicide type). I built a sensor switch pistion fired door which rose into a recess created for it. While working on it the travel distance was too high and it would smack the ground causing it (and the structure it was attached to) to move around. So I'd have to go and move everything back to where it was. I finally got it working just right, but then it got stuck on the recess and wouldn't work again.
