XBL Compatible Routers

Post by ebe »

Has anyone had any experience with getting multiple Xboxen to work on Live via the same router?

The household ADSL router shat itself when the power dipped during the storm last night. I'm gonna try a utility off the Linksys support site tonight to see if it can be salvaged, but failing that we'll be in the market for a new wireless ADSL2 router this weekend.

A while back I read some reports on the Internets of the magical properties provided by 'Xbox Live Compatible' certification when networking multiple consoles. Now that we have 3 of them in the house, it would be nice if we could get them all working properly on Live at the same time, which has been a problem for us so far.

I've had a look over the 'up-to-date' certified router list on the Xbox support site, and I'd like to stick with Linksys if possible (I detest Netgear after 2 shitty routers, and never did much like D-Link when I had to support them at my last job), but there's only 1 there that they even make these days.

So if there are any suggestions out there, or people have found a way to make it work with non-certified hardware, please let us know.

apparently these are compatible

BEFSR41 (v3)
BEFW11S4 (v4)
WRT54G
WRT54G(v2)
WRT55G(v2)
WGA54G

I have done no further research than opening the page and highlighting the linksys routers and copy and pasting into here.

Yeah, was looking at that list this morning. One of them isn't wireless, another one is only wireless-a or b, the rest are discontinued except the WRT54G which UMart aren't selling (although I could look elsewhere if that's the best option).

EDIT: Will check out the link later.

I live a fast life and I don't have time to read every detail.
