Wireless Wheel Help ?

Post by Kangawallaby »

Does anyone have one of these and use it sitting on their lap ?

If so how do you find it, wouldn't mind a wheel to re ignite the racing games in my collection ?

Also does it work on PC ?
2nd place is the first loser....

Forget that lap madness.
If you're going to bother with a wheel, get your shit together and build a PVC cockpit.

Cheap and effective.

Cue Seraph coming in to tell you how shit the XB Wireless Wheel is....

PGR4, but most of all Forza2 and Race Pro are awesome with it.

Not so sure about more arcadey stuff. DiRT wasn't much cop, NFS, etc would probably be awful, and I don't even want to think about Burnout Paradise (although I could give it and OutRunOA a go and let you know).

I dont like it for PGR4. Race Pro and Forza 2 are fantastic though, especially Forza 2.

Buy a PS3 and GT5 prolog (whatever...) and a real wheel. None of this shit from MS please.

Sorry if that isn't helpful, I just wish MS would stop being dicks and let other wheels to be used on their console. They allow them on their PC operating systems, so why not the 360?

I've been thinking about getting one to use on PC and 360...

I don't think the 360 wireless wheel works on PC. It's wireless, I'm guessing it doesn't work on PC, just like the wireless controllers don't?

Wireless controllers do work if you have the wireless PC dongle.

well I got one anyway, no thanks to the sage advice of you freaks.

The feedback's quite strong in PGR4, at least - more than I was expecting after playing Outrun with it, which has no feedback.

Windows will automagically download the drivers for it if you have the dongle. I only have one racing game suitable for it on PC, so I haven't tried it yet.

I find it amusing that you can play non-driving games with it though.

So, say I was feeling rather frivolous with my ruddbucks and bought a wheel AND wireless adapter. Would that be seen as a good or bad investment, unfunk? In your opinion, of course :)

I keep forgetting :(

I really do heart PGR4 though. Still play it every now and then, too. The driving model is fucking sublime.

ummm... there's probably cheaper wheels out there if you just want to use it on PC, but you're kinda stuck for options with the 360.
I'm going to have to restart my PGR4 career because I just can't control any of the cars I'm up to using with it. I am reminded that I suck at using the wheel.
I should have remembered that.

Outrun plays shitloads better with the wheel though.

Rumble, yes. Feedback, nothing. Rumble doesn't equate to feedback with this thing :?

Oh,. and it's annoying to have on your lap because it keeps sliding about. I liked the way my Saturn wheel makes you sit it under your thighs

OK, apparently no PC games will support the force feedback, as Microsoft have not enabled it via XInput. Second to that, it appears as though games need to be specifically designed with XInput libraries in order to make full use of it - otherwise the accelerator and brake pedals share an axis, which is kinda shit.

On the other hand, M2emu supports XInput, and so Daytona, Sega Rally and Indy 500 work flawlessly
