HBO just picked up Silicon Valley for a second seasonShaneus wrote:Fuck, I saw the trailers and thought it looked decent, but they never mentioned it was by Mike Judge. Sounds like a must-watch.GreyWizzard wrote:Silicon Valley
It's a show about engineers working in Silicon Valley by Mike Judge. Judge just nails this part of society so well...
Some good laughs.
It'll be a one season-wonder

Re: TV Shows
Friends with better lives
I didn't expect to like this as much as I do. I was thinking I'd be turning it off part way into the first ep but here I am 3 EPs in and pissing myself with laughter. I find a lot of the comedy relevant to my life... I probably laugh too loud at the married couple and sometimes wonder what my wife thinks of that...
Dawson is great and doesn't play the obvious character for him. He plays a dude who has divorced from a 12 year marriage that started after high school. It's cool to see him play a dude who now has to navigate the dating scene, a life he has never had to deal with.
Kevin Connolly is probably my fave. He plays a married with kids character. Just his somewhat defeated delivery feels so perfect. If you're married or in a long term relationship you can relate to how he feels. It may not be exactly the same but you can understand the mindset.
It's better than expected and fills the gap left by himym nicely.
It won't be everyone's cup of tea but it's better than your generic US comedy crap... imo.

Re: TV Shows
Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been a pleasant surprise.
Despite Andy Samberg (The Lonely Island) and Terry Crews (Old Spice commericals) being 2 of the main characters in the show, it's nowhere near as amateur as you'd expect.
Give it a try and Watch the first couple of episodes - I recommend it.

Re: TV Shows
Tell you what... Just finished the season finale of Agents of SHIELD. Fucking loved it. Slow burn of a season but it exploded in the last half and cranked it up. Loved how it is in sync with the other marvel movies and yeah.. Pumped that it has been renewed.
Other than Buffy.. Can't remember a show that got consistently better with each episode.

Re: TV Shows
My brother in law put me onto Veep recently.
Julia Louis Dreyfus is outstanding in this as the Vice President of the U.S of A. Tony Hale (Buster Bluth) is great. Great show. Seinfeld fans need to get this. It's like an unshackled and uncensored Elaine. It's like we get to see Elaine without a camera on her...swearing, making threats and generally being terrible but with real power. I don't know why I hadn't gotten around to this until now.

Re: TV Shows
They should have just made a Flash film. This looks like cheap garbage.
Re: TV Shows
Extremely meh. Give it to Marvel, they know how to treat their characters with respect. If Guardians of the Galaxy can get a movie Flash is definitely worthy.

Re: TV Shows
Arrow has been awesome and has been the best superhero tv we've ever had. I think with Geoff Johns writing the pilot we'll be fine.

Re: TV Shows
I'm aware of that. I'm never going to say Arrow is the best show on tv, but it's great superhero tv that respects the shit out of the character and the entire DC universe.

Re: TV Shows
I would like to see WB/DC fail hard at all these teen drama 'superhero' shows (Smallville, Arrow & Flash), just so they would learn they're lesson & do their characters & DC universe justice.
WB don't care about how the characters are represented, they just want viewers & the majority of these will be teeny boppers looking for a 'power' induced spin on Dawson's Creek...
