Firefox > Safari, unless you're on a Mac.Talez wrote:I use Safari so for me it's like being a duck in water. Firefox has too much shit in the task bar. Like do you really need separate stop and reload buttons?

Exactly. Which is what I love most about Firefox - you can pretty much design the layout to be whatever you want.lestat wrote:You do realise you can customise the toolbar buttons and remove that stop button if it bothers you so much.Talez wrote:I use Safari so for me it's like being a duck in water. Now when you use their browsers it will have history of everything you browse forever. All that weird porn you search for is kept in their computers forever so they know what you are thinking. lol Lestat is obviously hiding something I reckon!"Google should not be in the spy business," he said. Ok, so that's what you meant. Which is actually a pretty good idea.Talez wrote:I like having the stop button though. I just prefer a single context sensitive button for stop and reload.
But of course, there's a Firefox add-on for it http://yellosoft.us/index.php?id=73" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which I've just installed and yeah, it works well!

10 reasons why it's a bad idea:

I agree with that. Really who can say they really need another browser? It's another pain in the butt for developers.
Having to maintain sites to work in multiple browsers is already a major nuisance. Currently, developers have to ensure their sites work OK in Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari as a bare minimum (and that's not counting the multiple flavours of each browser, an especially big pain with IE8's worthy but painful commitment to standards). Adding Chrome to the list is bound to cause more problems, especially in the short term.

That's not really the case, gameHED - it should behave the same as Safari for basic rendering. You will only need to test JS incompatibilities, not rendering.
And anyway, browser testing is a normal part of Professional Web Development now, any work I do is tested in IE6/7 and Firefox 2/3 as a minimum. We only test for Safari/WebKit if the client requests it, but that may change now.
And Talez, I find Safari horrible to work in from a Web Dev point of view - the only redeeming feature is the Timeline. No dev app for Safari can replace Firebug.

Apparently the google browser runs each tab in its own process and the browser has a "task manager" to view memory and page processor usage. Google seem to be targeting this browser to be quite different to others in that it seems to be a browser/os environment to run online/local applications, not just view pages.
Built in task manager = talez hate.
