Best Youtube Video Downloader

Post by GeneraL CyberFunK »

So I am sick and tired of those fucking Alfa Romeo ads and I need to redub them. What is the best (least adware laden) youtube video downloader?

Any assistance will mean T0mby gets the antidote.

I'm not sure about the downloader, but anyone know how to get Youtube to keep downloading even if paused again?

Excellent. Now.. any suggestions for ripping Mp3's from youtube? :D

It's funny.. back when I had my old PC and using Windows XP.. I had sooo many good programs and cracks and stuff to do what I wanted.. these days everything is full of adware and is just plain dodgy.

I use the free version of AoA Audio Extractor. Lets you do Mp3 in varying quality through to 320 and WAV.

I have the perfect solution to this, because sampling audio from youtube is part of my music workflow.

I investigated a lot of options including programs and websites and the best solution is a Chrome extension.

I use this one. http://www.chromeextensions.org/utiliti ... ownloader/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Remeber, that because this is not a 'play store approved' app, you will need to take the downloaded file and 'drag and drop' that file onto your 'extensions' page in 'settings'.

The beauty of this dowloader is that it adds a 'download' button to every youtube video page, and it even allows you to choose the format of download. Flash video, mp3, mp4 etc.

Great little prog.

To answer Agony -
I'm not sure about the downloader, but anyone know how to get Youtube to keep downloading even if paused again?
The answer is yet again another extension.

This one is called 'Youtube Centre' - http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/114002" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Again, you will need to 'drag and drop' this one onto the extensions page to override the play store permissions.

It will clean up the appearance of youtube and give you a whole bunch of options. The option you're looking for agony is called 'DASH playback'.

You do this by pressing the new little 'cog' icon for settings that youtube center adds to YT pages. Then you go to this option

You need to uncheck this option to get YT videos to buffer fully.

Basically it works like this -
A few years ago, YouTube switched to a streaming protocol called Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP, or DASH for short. While it's more efficient in most cases, you probably know it best as the thing that only lets you preload the video a few seconds ahead of the playhead, no matter how fast your connection is. Luckily, it's easy to disable.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

i got around it by downloading and changing over to http://www.torchbrowser.com/

Its still essentially chrome but has a media grabber button and torrent client built in. you can sign in with your google account to. getting extensions to run can be a bit finicky, i managed to get some to run on the desktop computer but havent managed to get them running on my laptop :shrugging:

Although I don't like to share this because the reptilians always try to wreck stuff thinking that they are enhancing things: *cough* google + *cough*

I just use the plug in for firefox called download helper.

Great for porno versions of youtube.

You guys should support ads it helps the people to make better stuff. You pay for xbox live subscription to play games online but can't even spare change to donate a bit of money to software companies making your life easier? Talk about fucked priorities.
