I'm late to the party on this show. I picked up Season 1 on HD-DVD well over a year ago and never actually got around to watching it until recently. Basically a month ago i had never seen an episode and wasn't even sure what to expect. Tonight i just finished the season finale. I had avoided this thread not wanting to be spoiled, it actually made me try to get through it a bit quicker to read other peoples thoughts and opinions.
I must admit that i really didn't expect to like the show. Not sure why, but I had it in my head that it wasn't my sort of show before i had seen it. After the mini-series and first few episodes i was absolutely hooked though.
Having just read through this thread, i can't believe the amount of people that love this show but hate LOST. Or that mech can love LOST and direct so much hate toward this show. IMO both shows are absolutely brilliant. Although i would have to say i lean toward LOST as the better show at the moment. Hopefully it can wrap things up slightly better then BSG did. While i enjoyed the finale... i feelt kind of empty toward how seemingly minor some of the massive plotlines seemed to be as a whole.

So I finally got around to finishing the whole series off. I'd stayed completely away from the thread as I didn't want to spoil anything.
Anyway, I'd loved absolutely everything about this show from the mini-series all the way to the first half of the last episode, but damnit if that final 60 minutes wasn't some of the biggest bullshit I'd ever seen.
Yeah yeah, I know the show had been touting the God thing from the get go, but the whole location of "Earth 2" being found by assigning numbers to the notes and it all being god's will was pretty much one of the worst cases of deus ex-machina in recent memory. Absolute cop out. Why the fuck did Hera know so much stuff? Really? Why?
And fuck that shared conciousness/collective unconscious whatever blah blah blah.
Will still watch the whole thing through again one day, as overall it's still awesome, but that ending was shit.

Caprica was pretty silly I reckon. I think it's better if there's some mystery about the origin of the Cylons and how they evolved enough to rebel.
Dead daughter's memory inside a Cylon cheapens them IMO.
Anyway, has anyone gone back and watched the original 1978 series after having only seen the new one? How does it hold up, and is it really worth watching?

I just ordered the UK version. The packaging sold me over the US version. Managed to find a video comparison which made it an easy decision:
Works out to be around $180AU after shipping which is pretty good. The US version would have worked out to be around the $230 mark.
Can't wait to go back and re-watch this in HD.

I love it when I'm given a new reason to live.
Odd coincidence. Last night I had Juzbuffa over for dinner so that I could force him to sit through the miniseries pilot episodes of Battlestar Galactica. He's steadfastly refused to watch it and as he's a scifi fan, I felt an intervention was well and truly due. I also felt it important to show the opening minutes of season 1 episode 1 where they've been jumping every 33 minutes making over 270 jumps just to keep ahead of the tyranny.
I didn't like Caprica. I wanted to but just couldn't. While the story is important to the history it's a shame it wasn't as great as BSG. Hopefully this series sees a return to form.

I met EJO today. He signed an Adama picture for me as both Edward James Olmos and Admiral Adama. It was so dreamy I nearly fell into his open pores.

I got in the line for the signing early, only two ahead of me. But the two people immediately behind me was a supergeek dressed as Dr Who (old style) and a really poorly drawn jedi girl in a dressing gown and brown plastic boots.

I don't know if I can watch it... I mean.. I'm kinda over the Adama family.
I couldn't watch Caprica for that reason... oh and Eric Stoltz. Kill him now.
