I love Laurie dee's and I blame ray for my burger addiction to that place! They honestly have the best burgers around and their chilli cheese fries are the best.

So I'll preface this with I will not ever eat a kebab. I hate them. Souvlaki on the other hand can be pure lamb heaven. Fitzroy has Souvlaki King. Did anyway. Renowned souvlaki. The dude who built their reputation sold up and now establishes souvlaki shops to his own style and then sells up at a profit. The first place after Souvlaki King was here in Epping.
I present Souvlaki Planet.

I get a muffin tray and line each pot with lean ham. Then I crack an egg into each and put a little grated tasty cheese on top and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes. I just made them for Tobias for his lunch tomorrow. I call them Ham Buckets.

Souvlaki is best eaten smashed about 4am I the morning. I used to frequent a place in Perth called kosmos kebabs and I swear they made the best souvlaki I have ever eaten until I tried one whe I was straight, bad mistake that was!

 You've ruined the illusion ministry.

Cletus those look amazing. Though if given the choice, I'd choose Grey's bacon-based buckets.

Had onion rings from Hungry Jack's last night and now I have the most raucous smells coming from my arse. This has to seriously be one of the worst brews of gas I've created.

On the plus side, bacon deluxes are still awesome.

I have no issue with bacon in place of ham. I pretty much always have ham in the fridge. I try not to keep bacon around unless I know I'm going to use it for something.

Also, when I have these I usually add a dash of cream, parmesan preferred over tasty and some chopped parsley. That's actually the recipe I usually use. Ham, egg, cream, parmesan and parsley. But I've never used bacon. It'd be close to a quiche without the pastry. No issue with that either.

Those look really good. For a ghetto alternative you can use devon slices and the microwave. The devon turns into a little bucket all by itself, no muffin tray required. Science!

N.B. Devon buckets have a 5% chance of inverting.

Bacon is quite different here in the US, but I am totes getting on board, especially with the bacon method: http://baconmethod.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also, on Saturday I had the privilege of having in'n'out (including animal style fries, so good) and chik fil a on the same day. Junk food in the US is great.

I like American style bacon. It's infiltrated a lot of menus here in Melbourne and it's a fine alternative to our style of bacon.

Thanks, mech. Bookmarked.

Yeah! Of the chains I only had the chance to try Shake Shack and Wendy's while I was there, and they were both incredible.

I haven't been game enough to get Hungry's or anything since I've been back.

Had a double McOz last night. Don't bother with the extra meat patty, it lessens the experience.

Do they still make Angus Burgers at McDonald's? Haven't had one for at least two years.

I tend to find this across the board for burgers now. The more meat, the less I enjoy it. Except for the KFC Double. They have yet to devise a way of making more fried chicken unappealing to me. I still think my version of the Double is perfect but it'd be difficult for KFC to sell it prepared.

These look deluxe, do you need baking paper or oil or something so they don't stick? Do they end up runny yolk or hard? Lastly, 180°C?

I spray olive oil first but you probably don't have to. I also use a non stick muffin tray. The ham forms the base and it's generally easier to use the packaged thin cut round shaped variety of ham but most sliced ham will work. The round ham is near perfect though. Saves time. Egg will sometimes boil over the ham as seen in the picture and then cook to the ham base. It doesn't matter. You can remove it but there's no need to. Yup - 170 to 180°C. Runny or hard is up to you. It's a difference of minutes and your oven will be different to mine. I'll also quote myself in case you missed the ultra deluxe version of the recipe.
Also, when I have these I usually add a dash of cream, (freshly shaved or grated) parmesan preferred over tasty and some chopped parsley. That's actually the recipe I usually use. Ham, egg, cream, parmesan and parsley.
Place your ham in each muffin cup
Crack an egg into each
Add a teaspoon of fresh cream
Cover lightly with parmesan cheese
Sprinkle parsley

Bake in oven

Grey uses bacon in place of ham. This would be delicious but wouldn't provide a full meat pastry like mine. Ham is my base, not egg.

Also a special mention goes to Mr Science.

Got a couple of the ultra deluxe ones in the oven at the moment. Realised I forgot cream though :-( alas, next time. Also went with garlic chives in lieu of parsley. Smells awse already  many thanks for the heads up Cletus!

Turned out pretty well, had them as a bit of a side to a salad and was perfect accompaniment. I was too lazy for pictures but know they looked good as well! Opted for hard yolk.

I walked through Southland shopping centre tonight to grab something quick for Valentines day. The door I entered through had me walking through one of the food courts. What a display. Friday evening, suburban shopping centre, Maccas, TGI Fridays, obligatory 'Chinese' lemon chicken/sweet and sour pork vendor. I know I have to drop misanthropy and remain upbeat given I've just had a kid and all so I'll just say we're doomed.
