Sizzler isn't great but the sum total of it is great. Memories of lining up to get in, dining out with the family, the casual atmosphere, cheese toast...

I was there the other day (and I might have gotten food poisoning from the potato bake) and they had key lime meringue pie things... Fucking endless key lime pie! I was in heaven (besides the twisting churning feeling in my gut). Why do you want to crap on that??

Well Melbourne got rid of them a long time ago. I don't recall them being all that bad but I never really ate there a lot either. Melbourne has had much higher standards than every other state for a long time though and it just sounds like the other states are catching up to our fifteen years ago.

Well, my general impression of Sizzler is that it was one of those places where they streamline the kitchen process so that the meth-head chefs can cope and do it on auto-pilot.

Frozen steaks, oven chips, ready made seafood meals, a lot of heat and serve stuff. The spaghetti was always cooked past al dente... etc...

I get a similar vibe from Coffee Club incidentally.

Mind you nowadays I usually just order chips and salad sandwhich with a coke everywhere I go so whatevs.

I predict that, just like the fate of Pizza Hut restaurants, Toowoomba will have the last Sizzler restaurant in the nation. And they'll love it. Actually the Pizza Hut restaurant is pretty good.
