I'm still undecided about the Hawk's draw...

Was hoping for some more 'away' games at the MCG... we only get one.

Especially as we hava a Dome match vs Pies!

Delighted with four games in Lonnie (I have my interview at the Launceston General next month).

Nervous about the early Sunday matches... if Foxtel get the go ahead they will all become pay-tv matches... which is bad for sponsors.

The Hawks will be thereabouts to scrape into the eight this year... but a toughish draw will make it a little harder (not that we would have been a real influence in the finals anyway).

Disappointed James Hird's likely last game will be played at Subi.

You are making a pretty big assumption that Hirdy will make it to Round 22. ;)

And besides... if the Bombers really wanted to see him off in style they should make the eight... :D

The Eagles got screwed over hard by the draw. One game at the MCG. Both South Australian teams in South Australia but never at Subiaco. 4 out of this year's top 8 twice. Four away night games.

We're still going back-to-back though 8)

The new (computerised) draw assigns the teams you play twice on the ladder position at the end of the year (as opposed to previous years when it was based on the ladder at the end of round 15)... so the Eagles were always going to play the top teams twice.

The trips to SA were apparently requested by the Eagles (they asked for more trips there to help reduce the overall travelling).

One game at the MCG is a bit sucky...

Away night games - bah... the Eagles can afford to travel in business class - so sleep on the plane.

Best of all... you guys have to travel to Launceston to play us! At least gives us a better chance to be competitive!

Essendon haven't had an interstate round 22 since 1985. Live with it.

So why do Adelaide and Sydney have such good draws?

Yes I paused and pondered my word choice when writing 'likely'. :) Would dearly love to see them make the eight for a finals send-off but for that to happen everything would need to come together rather magnificently, including that which is not in their power such as the injury demise of another contender or three (and I'd never wish that on any team).

Swings and roundabouts...

Adelaide's is a tad soft (the AFL must be taking pity on them).

Sydney's is so-so... and, after all they have to play you guys twice ;)

But it seems a tad ironic when interstate sides start arguing amongst themselves the rub of the draw.

Interstate side = spoon fed ladder positions.

(unless you are Collingwood of course... but that is a different story)

I'm hoping the hawks will just make the eight or just miss out. It'll be interesing to see how Campbell will do as their number 1 ruckman. They might cause a few upsets.

The Hawks should finish somewhere between 8th and 10th.

A little luck and we may make September (albeit briefly).

I would have liked Robbie to spend one more year as Spider's apprentice... but he is ready to go as #1. He is competetive but will need another two to three years to see how far he develops in his his tap work.

Our problem is the #2 ruck. Taylor seems a little out of his depth... and big Maxie is at least three years too raw. If Campbell goes down... so will the Hawks.

As for upsets... I can take or leave them... what I want is less beltings. Somewhere between 9 - 12 wins would be delightful... but most importantly we must start being competitive against the big guns. No more ten goal beltings.

I totally agree with that, when we got flogged, we really got flogged big time. It was embarrasing.

West Coast has finalised its playing list ahead of next month's NAB AFL Draft with Travis Gaspar, Damien Adkins and Brad Smith all searching for a new club after failing to make the cut on Tuesday.

The delisted trio rounds out the departures for the Eagles who also bid farewell to Andrew McDougall (Western Bulldogs), Michael Gardiner (St Kilda), Drew Banfield (retired) and Phil Matera (retired).

Gaspar battled a series of foot injuries after being drafted at pick 14 in the 1999 national draft and managed just 28 games in his seven years at the club.

Adkins played 32 games for the club after coming over from Collingwood but failed to add to that total after breaking his leg early in the season, while knee injuries kept full-forward Smith from making his AFL debut after being picked up with selection 54 in the 2004 national draft.

In other list news, rookies Steven Armstrong and Matt Priddis - who both saw action this season - have been rewarded with positions on the senior list next year, while fellow rookies Michael Embley, Ben Sharp, Ashley Thornton and Beau Wilkes will not be retained next season.

The elevation of Armstrong caps off a fairytale year for the midfielder who was delisted by Melbourne at the end of 2005 and finished the season with a premiership medal, while Priddis was awarded the Sandover Medal as the WAFL competition's best player and was a key figure in Subiaco's premiership triumph.

West Coast now has selections 16, 29, 43 and 50 in the national draft on November 25.
I feel sad for Adkins, he was an emergency for the Grand Final last year but as the article says he broke his leg early this year in the WAFL. Same with Brad Smith, in the pre-premiership, pre-Lynch era he was touted as our answer at full-forward after he dominated the WAFL for Subiaco but did his knee during the preseason twice, which is just crazy :o

The elevation of Armstrong and Priddis off the rookie list speaks volumes for our recruiting team's talent

Gaspar is just shit, as are the delisted rookies. Not every rookie can be a Lynch or a Cox unfortuntely :(

Well, if things go right for my team the Blues in 2007 (injuries, no in-fighting) i believe we can make the 8! If not the 8, we'll give it a good go. I honestly don't think we were the worst team of 2006 (i'd say that honour would go to either the Tigers or Lions) regardless of our last position on the ladder. We lost many games by a small margin this year, and i just think that (along with Essendon) we can make a good go of making the finals in 2007... :)

Hasn't Fevola just been sent back from Ireland because he was "physically intimidating" bar staff?

Looks like it:
All-Australian full-forward Brendan Fevola has been sent home from Ireland after an incident at a Galway nightclub.

The 25-year-old, who didn't play in Australia's first Test, was told by a barman that he had consumed too much alcohol and was not served.

Fevola did not agree with the decision and when the barman attempted to call security, the Blue grabbed him in a headlock and verbally insulted him.

Local police were called to the incident and Fevola was escorted back to the team hotel.

AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou confirmed the incident and that Fevola would be sent home to Australia as soon as possible.

"We've fully co-operated with the police and we deemed the behaviour as completely unacceptable and that it wouldn't be tolerated." Demetriou said.

"We made that point very strongly to Brendan and he understood and he was remorseful and he has apologised and understands why he is being sent home."

Despite not taking part in the first Test against Ireland, Fevola was expected to be inserted into the line-up by Australian coach Kevin Sheedy for the second Test at Croke Park in Dublin.

After kicking 84 goals this season, Fevola was in the running to takeover from Anthony Koutoufides as the captain of Carlton though the latest incident will be a blow to his chances.

Blues chief executive Michael Malouf was not fully aware of the full details from the incident, but accepted the AFL's decision to send Fevola home.

"We do understand the AFL Disciplinary Committee has met on this matter and understand the decision that has been made and that Brendan has apologised for his actions and will not be continuing with the team in Ireland," Malouf said.

"We have been made aware of the incident but are not fully aware of all the details."

The AFL has offered a full and unconditional apology to the Galway police and the staff of the nightclub following the incident.

It is believed that there were two or three other players on the Ireland tour at the nightclub with Fevola when the incident occurred, but these players are yet to be named.

It's awesome when players from other clubs stuff up.
