Anthony Griffin has me missing Matt Elliott already after the team named for Round 1:

Moylan, Whare and Latu ruled out due to injury. So he selects:

Panthers
1 Will Smith - Horrible in the 9's, worst player on the field in our trial against the Eels and even at his best is simply average
2 Josh Mansour
3 Waqa Blake - Very happy he's in the team, he was our best in the trials. But sadly he's only in it because WHare is out.
4 Peta Hiku
5 Dallin Watene-Zelezniak
6 Jamie Soward
7 Peter Wallace - apparently 3 years and 2 ACL injuries ago he was shit enough to lose his starting spot at Broncos. Fast forward to now and he gets picked ahead of TMM who was easily the best half in the trials. But fuck it... why would you pick a talented young half with form behind him.
8 Sam McKendry - 2 weeks ago he was dropped to NSW cup. He had a shit game in NSW Cup. Gets brought straight back up to first grade
9 James Segeyaro
10 Reagan Campbell-Gillard
11 Bryce Cartwright
12 Isaah Yeo
13 Trent Merrin

Interchange
14 Tyrone Peachey
15 Jeremy Latimore
16 Suaia Matagi
17 Elijah Taylor - His effectiveness in the teams is based around being an 80 minute workhorse that makes a shitload of tackles. He offers no impact whatsoever and is a horrible choice for the bench.

Such a shit side.

Some awesome team selections for Round 1 as far as Supercoach goes. So many rookies. Just hard to predict which ones might keep their spots. Players like Latrell Mitchell should be safe. But Knights have 5 rookies and I know shit all about any of them. Could all be gone by Round 2. With Panthers I know Will Smith and Waqa Blake are gone after a few games at most. Form is irrelevant for them. Matt Moylan and Dean Whare will push them out even if they're the best players on the field until then.

So it stands to reason other clubs have rookies in a similar position. Or they might be the favorite but get dropped simply because they are playing shit.

Anyone watching on nineHD or winHD?

Is the footy stuttery for you?
Almost makes me want to watch in in SD.

It was ordinary from the viewpoint that a hyped team could barely score a try against the competition heavyweights.

Imagine Eels fans. Buying into the hype all off-season, the glory days are back, Parra the powerhouse, check out our new signings....and then after Game 1 of the season they find out they're fucked again

If you have FoxSports HD don't ever watch a game on Channel 9 again. I flicked over and the picture looked shit compared to FoxSports. The colours were washed out and the picture looked kinda soft with little detail and blocky parts. It's probably an upgrade over the SD shit we used to get, but being able to skip between the same game it was night and day difference.

Really disappointed with that Eels effort. Semi Radradra was pretty average, Michael Jennings looked like he did at the Panthers most games (invisible) and that right side defence was shocking. Obviously it will take a bit to find their feet with so many new faces. But I thought they could do better then that last night. Broncos never really fired up to win that. You're not going to get them playing that poorly very often, so it was a wasted opportunity for the Eels.

Broncos should be top 4 easily with this roster. Unless they lose one or both halves it's hard to see them dropping many games. Too disciplined and they have some awesome strike players on the field to make shit happen out of nothing. Last night they were probably as bad as we'll see them this year, Milford and Hunt were nowhere near their best, James Roberts did shit all and they still won comfortably. Oates was epic in that first half. You would have expected Semi to play like that.

Brisbane should finish top 2, and if they're not at least in the prelim final then the season is a massive fail.

Our backup hooker Sione Katoa is injured aswell. Probably due back Round 3 or 4 at the earliest and he will have missed all the trial matches having picked up his injury in the 9s.

But it's not a game of football if Panthers don't pick up an injury. I swear we lose players more often then not. It's beyond a joke at this point... yet some at our club feel it's just bad luck. Some fans do aswell. Bad luck would be shared around between all clubs equally over a big period. Not focused so heavily on one club (or a few) each and every season.

He hardly ever plays for Cronulla anyway. Usually you see him as one of thirteen on-field turnstiles during State of Origin.

Looks like injuries are hitting nearly every side this year. Panthers probably effected more than most at the moment. But damn some big names have gone down.

Fuck Griffin. Why select injured players on game day? It backfired massive amd leaves us down that player for longer.

Whare was never fit to play. We then played 10 minutes with Blake barely walking.

Normally when you sack your coach the idea is to bring in somebody better. Penrith have failed at this.

Brisbane lost a lot of games at the death with Griffin. Concerning that it is happening again. Otherwise I'd rather be in Penrith's shoes than Newcastle's.

The dogs look a good side.
