PC ram question

Hi, just upgraded my pc and it's up and running atm but in "commit charge " ctrl alt del opens up task manager and shows commit charge at the lower right of the window." is showing 1694m the 1 gig of ram I have.Is that correct?, to me it seems a bit low as I had 512mb before and it showed way more digits. Any help? tnx.
