Official 'Pirates is the best adventure series ever' thread

Post by Sonic Jam »

Indiana Jones has been topped, just got back from Deadmans Chest and I have nothing but positive things to say about it.

2.5 hours of action adventure bliss, the soundtrack is SUPERB one of the best I have ever heard, the acting is great especialy for Sparrow who again is one of the funniest and most interesting characters of all time, and the special effects are out of this world.

I reckon even if you hated the first movie (which I can't even imagine myself) you would love this one, it's just so fkn awesome.

So glad I saw this after Superman because I never would've been so much harsher on Superman if it had been the other way around, this movie sets the bar VERY high and I'm sure whatever movie I see next will seem worse than it actualy is because of that.

9.5 out of 10, .5 missing because I want the sequel so god damn much!

Edit - This forum seems to hate using " in the thread title, ye be warned.

I feel sorry for the idiot who gives this movie 1 star, the days of people taking his taste in movies seriously are numbered at best.

I saw it, I realise what my problem is. The subject matter doesn;t interest me. Unengaging. Not my type of film.

For a second there I though we were talking about Pirates XXX

GreyWizard seems to have the exact opposite opinion on movies to other people, then critiscizes them. He was bagging out peoples taste in the PN Movie thread... when the majority had similar interests.

PotC2 is my most anticipated movie this year... and i can't wait to see it. I wanted to go last night, but the person i was going with had to work back. Fucken cunt. Going over the weekend now.

Dude, I didn't bag this out. just said I realise why I don't like these movies. It is the subject matter. It doesn't interest me. If it doesn't interest me then I am going to be bored.

But let me say, this film is better then the first. Orlando Bloom seems more into his role and less out of place. There are some truly memorable and spactacular moments. Slight problem with having so many leads, but like I said only a slight problem.

If this was my kind of film I probably would have enjoyed it.

But I still have to say the first film was a real stinker, it was predictable, badly cast and not very interesting.

I'm gonna see it this weekend too. A bit pissed off they've taken Superman returns out of one of the cinemaxx cinemas so both cinemas can be dedicated to this though. Superman's only been out for one week!

I saw Pirates 2 the other day and really enjoyed it. The comparison to Indiana Jones movies is an excellent one - action packed and light-hearted (as opposed to action packed and tense).

After the movie I found myself comparing it to the Star Wars Trilogy though. Mostly in the way the story has been told and where it's at at the end of the second movie (I'm not going to post spoilers but if you've already seen Pirates 2 then have a think about it).

Anyway, Depp does a great job as Sparrow again, and this time I didn't look at Bloom and immediately think 'Elf'.

I give it 7.5 organ playing tentacles out of 10.

I loved Pirates 2, but saying it's a better series than Indiana Jones is like saying Ferrari is better than Lamborghini. At that end of the scale, who the fuck is complaining about having one or the other? I'll take whichever one you wanna give me—they're both superb.

I saw it tonight, and no fucking way in hell would I rate it above the Indiana Jones series, at least not yet. But no way.

Some of the effects towards the end of the movie were really poorly done, particularly the kraken mouth behind Jack. Unless it was deliberately bad as some sort of homage to the pit of sarlacc in RoTJ?

Saw it tonight. I liked it. Not something I'd go all OMFGWHATAMAZING about, but a good movie. I think the first one was a bit better though.

Saw it today. Was a good movie, ending felt like Reloaded. The first one was better imo, there is no way this touches Indiana Jones. Superman was better. I enjoyed this movie, but I fucking loved Superman.

Still a good movie but I wouldn't rate it above the first. Johnny Depp > *

Having been watching 21 Jump Street lately. Fuck Johnny Depp is a brilliant actor. His roles are just absolutely nailed. It's so hard to beleive Tommy Hanson is also Captain Jack Sparrow.

Going to see the movie tomorrow night for Tuesday rates :P

Fuck the haterz I saw this again yesterday and everyone I went with (big group this time) loved it just as much as me.

The general thought pattern was thank fuck for this movie being so action packed after Superman while being a very solid movie failed to get any real excitement going.
