Yet more blatant proof that the game is completely rigged against regular folk. As if we needed any more.

So these Hedgefunds were short selling gamestop.
Reddit said fuck that, and went buying gamestop on mass.
So now, they're stopping regular folks from buying gamestop.

One of the hedgefund mobs is also the same mob that owns the main trading apps.

In a nutshell, they exploit the system and destroy companies, legally, but morally bankrupt, and borderline market manipulation.
Then regular folks mobilize and decide to play the same game.
So they run illegal interference with complete market manipulation.
Talk about rules for thee, but not for me.

This whole story completely undermines how the entire economy works, and illustrates the absolute and disgusting fraud, collusion and corruption that people are allowed to get away with.
People HAVE to go to jail over this. Should be swinging as far as I'm concerned. But nothing will happen again.

Sportspeople and (from what I understand) their families can't put bets on matches, politicians and (depending on the department) public servants and their families shouldn't be able to buy shares.

I know when I worked for a Commonwealth agency there was a shitload of rules around owning shares. We weren't prohibited from owning shares, but lots of rules about which types were OK, when you were allowed to buy them and when you weren't etc. I just steered clear of it altogether because of, well, this.

It's shit. As I said to t0mby on Facebook, what is with American politicians hanging on well past their use-by date? Pelosi is 81 next month, and Mitch McConnell & Joe Biden are both 78.
Last year, we had Republican members of Congress selling their shares immediately after learning but before letting the public know anything about the pandemic, and this year, Pelosi (and undoubtedly many other congresspersons) buying up stocks they know are about to rise. Ridiculous.
