So someone had actually generated that and it wasn't one they'd just made up? Fucking awesome!

Also, these first two episodes were surprisingly good. Erred on the side of being more heartstring-tugging, but I don't mind that at all when the content's good. Wanda Sykes played a good soda machine, too. Looking into who played adolescent Ben as I'm sure I'd heard his voice before somewhere.

Wow. Just... wow. That last episode was completely fucking terrible. A hopelessly lame attempt to recapture the magic of the earlier episodes.
As much as it pains me to admit it, I actually hated every moment of it. I just hope they're saving their talent for the final episode.

Yeah tell me about it. That was some terrible, terrible writing. Extremely shallow grab for the heartstrings that didn't feel at all genuine (or logical).

Yeah, kind of wish it never came back. The Late Phillip J. Fry was perhaps the only episode since the show's return that's been any good.

When you're regularly running iphone app jokes for a series set in the year 3000+, you're not trying very hard.

I'm so fucking glad Arrested Development didn't suffer the same comeback slump that Futurama did.

are they the same writers as the original series? It's just downright sloppy! We've gone from some of the best, most moving moments in television history to.. to this junk. That last episode was a watershed moment - until now, I've been all "yeah, that wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either" but it was so fucking bad I can't even defend the rest of the season now!

I didn't think the most recent episode was that bad. Some of the other ones recently have been terrible though.

That... That was the finale? It would have perfect if they didn't undo the last half of the episode right at the end.

Good, but disappointing. It was no "Devil's Hands..." though.

Yeah, I thought it felt kind of rushed and unearned. Using Chopin's Tristesse is cheating for emotional points. A marriage between the main characters in the last episode of the series? What is this? The seventies? Instead of giving rabid fans everything they've asked for, the writers ought to be giving fans everything they didn't know they wanted.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!!

Edit: It was good! A solid episode that managed to be fully self-aware but not overly cringe about it. Not one of the greatest, but also far from one of the worst.
It's a pity you can really hear the actors ages now. Fry really does sound a lot older all of a sudden.

Also, I've been bingeing Futurama for the past month or so in preparation, and I have to admit, the newer seasons have aged really well for the most part. I didn't think there's be anything I'd really want to rewatch, but I enjoyed a lot of them!

Yeah I managed to laugh a couple of times. 1st being the Standup bot :)
Can't say I understood the point of the rant about streaming in the post credits.

Also can't believe you remembered this thread.

 of course I remember!

I think the rant might be something we'll have to come back to next time the show gets revived. Were they talking about The Simpsons going too long? Were they commenting about how streaming pays out? How it's counted as a watch? Beats me!

Episode 2: Children of a Lesser Bog

A solid episode, imo. Not exactly a riot, but a fun story regardless.

Episode 3

I don't really enjoy the episodes where the crew do this kind of thing, but I got a few solid laughs out of this one.

Episode 4

About as big a stinker as the the Nibbler turdball the crew came across while shrunk.

They took one of the best episodes of Classic Futurama and just.. crapped all over it.
It wasn't completely awful, but the story felt incredibly rushed. This amount of content could have filled 30-40 minutes had they actually bothered exploring it a bit more.

Kinda feels like they're targeting the tiktok generation with this one.

Episode 5

Not bad, not great. Substantially better than the last episode.
A solid story idea let down by subpar writing. I just wish they'd get the original writing team back together. The current team have some good ideas, but they really stumble on execution.

I feel like this one will age well.

It feels weird having episodes about contemporary stuff like Bitcoin but then not acknowledging it happened 1000yrs ago aswell.

Yeah, I agree. I think you've hit the nail on the head when it comes to what's fundamentally different in the newer seasons.

Episode 6
Another one that I think will age well, except there was an apparent gaping hole in the time travel story. I'm sure it can be explained away by someone, but.. eh. It feels like there modern stories simply aren't as finely crafted as the classic ones

But again, I think this one will hold up well in a few years. 6.5/10

Yeah this has stuck out for me a lot too, and it's not like Fry just sounds older I can essentially hear him bent over with hunched shoulders and walking with a cane.

Episode 7

I was fully expecting this one to be quite on the nose, but it was actually pretty decent. It was really only let down by the writer's trying to pack too much in to a 23-minute episode. Again.

I especially liked the reappearance of The Angry Dome.

8/10.
