PUBLIC ENEMY!

YYYYYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH BBOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEE!

I grew up on that shit. Welcome to the Terrordome is the shit!

Saw them at the Uni Bar in 98, fucking awesome show.

Album of the moment? Graduation by Kanye West. His sound is maturing, but not evolving, if you get me. Still a bloody good album.

YES! Saw that ep over the weekend... fuck it's hilarious! I only had to recognise the first few seconds of that clip to go "HELLOOO, HELLOOOOOO!"

Haven't heard all of it but I reckon he's so far ruined that Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger rendition of his. Absolute puss. Don't get me wrong, I've heard plenty of remixes of that song, but none as bad as that.

I, however have been listening to these fine gentlemen :

On 12" too. They're from Melbourne and they have some funky chilled tunes. They have a new album out since this one and they are currently touring Australia with the Cat Empire.

Psycroptic - Sceptre of the Ancients

They may be Tasmanians, but fuck these guys are talented. Pretty hard stuff but death metal rarely sounds this interesting while maintaining a constant brutality. Give em a chance, if your ears own a set of balls.

I absolutely love the album Children of Telepathic Experiences. Sure, there are a few tracks I have to skip but there are about 6 tracks that are complete stand outs. I think Gerling are amazing because they don't particularly sound like anyone. They don't fit into any particular style of music either and the first album almost feels like a compilation of seperate artists. But I think they have a spacerock quality similar to bands like The Church, Pink Floyd and Radiohead.

If you haven't heard it, you should listen to the song Windmills and Birdbaths(pt2) from When Young Terrorists Chase the Sun. Such a bizarre and stunning track. I have the mp3 if anyone wants it via messenger.

But my favourite song/piece is Suburban Jungle Sleeping Bag. Amazing.

Ahh your speaking to the faithful! I'm a Gerling obsessive (since '98!), and to my ears Radiohead are the only band that can top them. I think I've seen them live about 15+ times now :D

Bad Blood!!! was in my opinion their finest achievement, and I firmly believe that it was that album, not The Rapture's Echoes that was the peak of the dance-punk scene like everyone believes. If it was a just world then they would be on the world stage, but that's a problem most Australian genre breaking bands have to suffer from.

CoTC was indeed lots of fun, and the amazing thing about it is how much it flows, even though it's such a schizophrenic sounding album.

And yes, Windmills and Birdbaths is beautifully bizarre - methinks they'd suffered many a comedown when they wrote that song

I've been alternating between Year Zero by NIN and Beggar's Banquet by the Stones. I'm prepared to call Year Zero the best NIN release ever, nearly a year on and there is still depth to the album. I have never been a fan of the Stones but Street Fighting Man has some of the best lyrics in the history of music.
