Same here! I went in not knowing anything at all about this film and came out just unable to speak I was so shocked and awed at that ending! Perfectly executed. M Night had his shit period but he's definitely back!

Logan

Got free tickets to a premiere so that was cool. Logan is definitely overrated, but still not bad. The best of the X-Men flicks I guess but really it's a different type of movie altogether,.
Lots I could whine about but decent overall.

I'm confused, didn't the last one set a happy ending timeline for everyone? Even if this one is set far into the future, how is Charles still alive?

Such a great actor, so many memorable characters. I thought he was the only actor to be killed by The Terminator, Predator and Aliens. There is still one more

watched Swiss Army Man last night.

Wasn't expecting that!
What the fuck did I just watch?

enjoyed it though, the music and production to compliment someone riding a farting corpse like a jet ski is excellent!

Loved Logan. Superhero movie as western? Awesome!

Continuity is fucked up again though even after the reboot of Days of Future Past.

Just came out of Imax seeing Kong: Skull Island. Really enjoyed this, and interesting take on King Kong and found it more enjoyable than Peter Jacksons remake. Some really amazing shots showing off the scale, new creatures I didn't expect to see. Kinda reminded me of seeing Jurassic Park for the first time not knowing what to expect and then being wowed by the sheer size of the monsters.

Saw Logan. Great movie which brings back the "r" rated sci-fi/fantasy genre although this feels like watching a action flick with drama and not a superhero movie.

If you have seen older comic movies like Blade movies this might be for you. Wolverine is a weakened version so all his actions have consequences to so if he gets too injured it actually affects what he can or can't do when he makes a mistkae.

More movies like this please. Don't get me wrong I like current marvel movies as they are now, but if they can add more grit to the story and characters I would be hapy too. I didn't really like Deadpool all that much because by putting too much humour it ruins the tone of the things that go on in the fights. Why should I care about an overpowered dude who can heal instantly when he fights things? Think about that: it's fucking boring isn't it? Anytime they fuck up they get to try again and again and again. Movies should be more gritty and realistic versions of the comic characters. It's why Batman as a DC character is appealing to older audiences since he can die easily and by not being overpowered you don't expect powers to win battles but the character's own skill and fighting potential.

Will still see Deadpool 2 just to show suport for the R rated stuff. I still can't accept Wolverine as a tall guy though. Is this Hugh Jackman's last movie as Wolverine?
And is the Logan story a stand alone universe that isn't related to the main X-men movies?

I haven't seen the latest Godzilla, in fact I haven't seen any Godzilla movies so can't compare there.

I enjoyed it more than Pacific Rim, but then everything outside of the battles was pretty shitty so make of that as you will.

For those who like Logan movie, yes it's based on its own seperate standalone universe.

The comic is Old Man Logan. All the good guys were killed and the survivors are old guys. The helper guy with wolverine and xavier is a morlock (homeless bum mutants that are too ugly or deformed for public appearance. think of it like circus freaks but mutants and poor) whose power is sensing other mutants.

more info here from comicbook girl: (seek to about 27:20)
It's a fucked up world similar to Berserk comics. Bad guys are winning and everywhere.

It's time hollywood try a vampire hunter D movie. Hyper violent and depressing bounty hunting series with similar setting as logan but the rednecks are cunning and deadlier and vamps are way ahead technologically to the humans. (robot horses)

One movie I've seen lately:
Published on Feb 6, 2017
Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky (機動戦士ガンダム サンダーボルト DECEMBER SKYディッセンバースカイ Kidō Senshi Gandamu Sandāboruto Dissenbā Sukai?) is a 2016 anime film created by Sunrise. It is a feature length compilation of the 4 episodes of the Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt ONA. Unlike the ONA, this film includes new footage and is dubbed in English.

Synopsis
During the One Year War of U.C. 0079, the Earth Federation's "Moore Brotherhood" and the Principality of Zeon's "Living Dead Division" engage in a fierce battle at the "Thunderbolt Sector", a shoal zone in the former Colony Side 4 "Moore". After successfully infiltrating Zeon's sniper field, ace Federation pilot and jazz enthusiast Io Fleming is given control of the latest Gundam prototype. To combat the new Federation threat, Zeon amputee pilot and ace sniper Daryl Lorenz sacrifices his humanity to directly interface with an experimental Zaku II prototype.

good dub. Love universal century gundam universe. (the bulky 1970s boots of zeon zaku brings back nostalgic memories of old times when pants that were really baggy at the ankles were all the rage) When is the military going to build REAL ONES? And invent minovsky particles so guided weapons are useless and people go back to fighting close range again like in old wars?

I found Arrival painfully slow. I dislike it when a movie keeps saying "I know something you don't know, I'll tell you in 90 minutes".

Split was pretty good, but the comments saying
Spoiler!
there's this big twist at the end
kind of ruined that for me, knowing something's there.
Spoiler!
It wasn't even a meaningful thing really. I don't think the Unbreakable tie-in improved the movie; rather it kind of took the limelight off Split, which deserved that limelight.
Even the movie's tagline is just... why bother developing the first 50 minutes of the movie. We already know. And final rant, the
Spoiler!
whole beast part of the story was pretty cheap. It was like The Dark Knight Rises telling you there's a bomb at the end of the movie. Split did that too, but goofier. Yeah he gon eat you. Can't they find a way to make him a threat/intimidating without someone literally having to say "He's going to eat you"?
But overall, I enjoyed watching it, probably most because of McAvoy.

Trailer for The Promise - directed by Oscar winner Terry George (Hotel Rwanda), and starring Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac.

It's a movie about the Armenian Genocide in 1915.

If I was "that way inclined", I'd give it to Oscar Isaac! Something about him is extremely sexy! Anyway, cool looking film!!!
