Saw the Predator last night, enjoyed it, but have so many issues with the way they took it in the 2nd part of the movie.
Spoiler!
Movie starts with a Predator doing his shit on earth, gets hunted and killed and replaced with a super hybreed CGI Predator for the rest of the film. He was hunted down cause he had some secret to give to us to save the world from Global warming. The secret ended up been some predator suit for humans to wear to fight these super predators. Oh and there was sum kid with aspergers who was able to unlock and use all the predator tech, who also was the last key in building the DNA to the hybreed Predator.

save the world from Global warming.
That's not what I took away from it at all.
Spoiler!
I thought it was pretty clear that the "gift" was a way for us to combat the predators when they arrive. It was pretty shit though - I think they could have made the film without that last little coda and it would have been a lot better.
Ehhh... I didn't hate it, but I wouldn't see it more than once at the cinema.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

What the fuck. Either that should have been two films, or none. The first act was the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Who the fuck is that kid, and why do I care that she's a clone of some old dude's daughter?
Given that they're making a Jurassic World trilogy, I'm hoping that this is just the low point of the greater arc, but this was an utterly shoddy follow-up to what really was a rather excellent film.

I give it a 5/10, but only because dinosaurs in movies are always fucking cool, no matter how bad the film is.

Bohemian Rhapsody

9 enlarged incisors out of 10. Absolutely brilliant. Rami Malek deserves to win all of the awards.

Agreeing with this; that last line especially. I will say that the movie was more terribad than terrible; I got a fair bit of amusement out of how bad it was. The best bit was definitely the brachiosaurus (?) on the dock as they sailed away. It was so friggin' hilarious to watch the movie trying to push the emotions over this random & lonely giant dinosaur in the smoke, fading into the distance.

On one hand I doubt it'll get better. On the other hand it would be kinda hard not to. :D

I think I'm mostly angry at it being bad, than saddened. Jurassic World was such a solid film, it's like they tried their damned hardest to retrospectively ruin it. I'm still going to watch the next film, but at this point, I fully expect to be in denial that any Jurassic Park films exist after Jurassic World.

Bohemian Rhapsody.

Rami deserves an oscar. Brilliant. By the end of the movie, any thoughts of "oh thats rami" was gone. It wasn't true to some events and what not but I can understand why they changed it up. 9/10

Harry Potter and the Unnecessary Prequel 2

It was alright, but it really felt like they were completely unprepared to make a Fantastic Beasts 2. The film is also a prequel to the Harry Potter books, not the films. I guess that's a bit of a non-event to most Harry Potter nuts, but believe it or not, there's plenty out there that haven't read the books (which is odd). The movie relies on the viewer knowing a bunch of existing Harry Potter lore.
...and even then it's confusing as fuck sometimes.

What really ground my gears was the big twist/reveal at the end... that was so important, you'd think it was mentioned somewhere in Deathly Hallows, at least. It's right up there with Obi-Wan not recognising R2D2, ffs.

Also, Jude Law, while being a fine actor, is no Albus Dumbledore.

Six unforgivable curses out of ten.

Avengers Infinity War

Kids at a sleepover with their mum so I can watch a movie. I fell behind on Marvel movies a while ago. Have not seen Guardians, Dr Strange, Spider-Man, Ant Man and probably others. Amazing then that this 2.5 hour movie can come together and be coherent, fun and deliver some decent hits. A movie bringing all that together can never be perfect but it’s probably as good as it can be. I’d recently watched Thor Ragnarok so a good place to pick up. Thanos is awesome as were all his henchmen. I now want to watch Guardians having enjoyed those characters. Benedict is always good value so I’ll look up Dr Strange also. Actually Tom Holland good also. Good emotional hit with his character near the end there. Great movie.

The Guardians movies are great, Ant Man is good also! Haven't seen any Avengers movies after the first one though.

Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse.

A bit over-hyped but still okay. I wouldn't pay money to see it.

I really didn't want to see Spiderman: ITSV. Pretty much couldn't stand the stuttery animation style shown in the trailers (which is apparently the point of the whole thing) but I really enjoyed it. Good animated movies are hard to come by lately. It was just enjoyable start to finish.

Just reread this and it reads like I'm a single dad. I'm not. Kids + their mum were staying over with in-laws. They came back.

Finally got around the Avengers Endgame. Spoilers ahead.

I was entertained but there’s a lot I didn’t like, namely the wrecking of Thor. The God of Thunder wracked with grief and guilt gets fat on earthly beer and video games and is a quivering mess. No. All the advice the recently departed Odin gave Thor in Ragnarok did not rub off. Thor’s joke status, track suit and fingerless gloves look stupid and draw a big red line through the excellent Ragnarok. Not sure how they can repair the character from here. Iron Man and Captain America treated far better. Their ends done well.

Anyone seen/going to see Once Upon a Time in Hollywood? If we're to believe the hype, it's Tarantino at his best. Hateful 8 was alright, although I really loved the work and dedication that went into it.

Rambo: Last Blood.

Takes itself way too seriously for a comedy.

At first you think it's gonna be Taken and then it turns into Saw/Final Destination level snuff film.

Was hilarious.

Joker
A rare long weekend where I'm not flat out doing stuff the whole time. Good opportunity to have a look at a movie that seems promising.
Yeah, that was pretty good. Very interesting look into the Jokers backstory. I enjoyed it a lot.
8/10

I'm 2 from 2 now (Joker and Pikachu). Starting to rebuild some faith in movies again.

Insidious
Two excellent movies that I've never seen before in one day. Amazing.
Watched it because Jay of Red Letter Media said it's good, and I saw it was on Stan.
Very, very decent horror film with excellent theme and amazing direction.

A depressing movie though.
